My husband and our friends stayed in a Lion King Suite room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. We were very excited because the Lion King is one of our favorite movies! We had 5 adults staying together, so rather than booking two rooms, we decided to look into the suites. We saw the pictures on the Walt Disney World website and knew instantly that the Lion King Suite was where we wanted to stay!
The Lion King area of the Art of Animation resort is so beautifully themed (as are most other places at the resorts). We loved taking a different path each time we left the building so that we could see all of the statues and themed touches that Disney always seems to put into their resorts. Our room was definitely in line with this theming too!
We were in building 10 of the Art of Animation building. We did request to be close to transportation on our online check in. We were at the end of a hallway on the first floor of the building. It was nice being on the end because we did not have to walk the entire length of the building after a busy day in the parks. And despite being right by the door to the outside, there was hardly any noise at all!
The suite rooms has 3 beds and 2 full bathrooms. One of the main reasons we were sold on this room was because of the layout. The two full bathrooms make getting ready in the morning and at bedtime much easier to coordinate with 5 of us staying together. When you walk in the room, directly to the left was the table that folds down into a bed. This was the smallest bed in the suite, so only one of us slept there. Across from the table/bed is the bathroom
The thing I loved about the set up of this bathroom was that it was sectioned off. The toilet and shower were in one room, while the sink was in an outer room. This made it easy for more than one person to be getting ready at the same time! While my husband was in the shower, I was able to get ready using the mirror and the sink without either of us being in the way of the other!
As you walk further into the room, on the right hand side was our little kitchen area. We had a sink, coffee maker and microwave along with some extra counter space. The mini fridge was also under the counter top in this area. This was especially nice because we typically take our lunches into the parks with us. It gave us just enough space to prepare and pack our lunches (something that the standard Value Resort rooms barely have) for the day. Also having the microwave was a plus! It gave us more choices for what we brought with us for lunch. Typically we do cereal or other easy things (to help save money so we don’t have to eat out for breakfast everyday) but this trip we were able to do things like oatmeal because we knew we would have access to the microwave in our room!
Just past the kitchen area is the living room with the pull out couch. This area was nice for hanging out when we wanted to, but was also easily converted into a sleeping area for the evening time. My husband and I slept on this bed. It was plenty comfortable for sleeping after a long day at the parks! We had plenty of room (even with my 6″+ husband) to sleep and it was easy to fold the bed back up into the couch for the morning if we wanted to sit to watch TV!
On the other side of the main room was the door to the bedroom. In this room was a queen sized bed that connected to the other bathroom. This part would be considered the “master bedroom” of the suite. The bathroom in this room is more standard, not the separated style like the one in the main part of the suite. This room allows for privacy when needed and can make for a quite place to rest if only part of your party wants to relax while everyone else watches TV!
Overall we loved staying in this suite! I will say however, that the Walt Disney World website states that the room would sleep 6 adults. I would say having the 5 adults in the room was plenty. The table bed states that it is double size, same as the pull out couch, but it seemed smaller to me. If you have 2 adults that are okay sleeping in close quarters then it might be okay but definitely consider that before booking for 6 adults!
