by Disney Magic Diva
Our first experience with the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was a spur of the moment encounter. As we were walking through Cinderella Castle, one of the Fairy Godmothers-in-Training was standing at the entrance to the boutique. On a whim I asked if, by chance, they had an opening for our then 5-year-old granddaughter. They did, we took it, and magic happened. As enchanted as our granddaughter was, I think my husband and I were even more enthralled watching her revel in the attention.
Since that fateful day, we’ve visited Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique several times – at Disney Springs, on Disney Cruise Line, at Disneyland Resort (well, actually we visited Anna & Elsa’s Boutique back when it was at Downtown Disney), and even at the newest location – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Each time has been magical and filled with its own unique and pixie-dusted moments. If you’re interested in creating your own Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique story, here’s what you need to know:
Reservations are a good idea. Even though we were able to walk-in, reservations are definitely recommended! You can book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa 180 days in advance. Reservations for Disneyland can be made 60 days in advance, and for first-time guests on Disney Cruise Line 75 days in advance. If you are a Castaway Club member, you can make reservations even earlier, depending on your level of membership. Reservations can be made online or through your travel agent (Patricia at All for Dreams Travel is happy to do this for you!).
You will need a credit card to reserve your spot, but your card will NOT be charged until the day of your visit. If you fail to show up, or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, there is a $10 cancellation fee.
You don’t need a park ticket to experience Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. When you think about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, you may immediately think about the iconic location in Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World or near Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. But, at least in Florida, there are other options! Disney Springs has an awesome location – complete with a magic mirror! And there’s a brand new location (as of August 2019) at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. So if you don’t want to “waste” precious park time at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or are looking for a great way to spend a “non-park” day, make your reservation at Disney Springs or the Grand Floridian.
Multiple packages are available. There are multiple packages to choose from when you arrive at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. They all include makeup and nail polish (you get to bring home the unused portion of the palette you choose), hairstyle, sash, and cinch bag. Prices for each package are the same at each location, except at Disney Springs, where the 3 least expensive packages are about $5 less than other locations. The princess packages are:
The Crown Package ($74.95 plus tax) includes a hairstyle, shimmer makeup, a princess sash, a cinch bag, face gem and nail polish.
The Carriage Package ($99.95 plus tax) includes everything in the Crown Package plus a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique t-shirt
The Courtyard Package ($144.95 plus tax) includes everything in the Carriage package plus a trendy tutu.
The Castle Package ($199.95 plus tax) includes everything in the Crown Package plus your choice of a Disney princess gown and coordinating accessories (We purchased this package for both our granddaughters over the years, and have received a tiara, necklace, and wand as the accessories. Shoes are not included.)
The Deluxe Castle Package ($229.95 plus tax) This is the Castle Package except you receive a deluxe gown and a boxed accessory set (presumably a little higher quality of a dress)
The Princess Signature Dress Collection ($450.00 plus tax) Disney describes this dress as “a signature gown with heirloom quality fabric and intricate design details.” The package includes everything in the Castle Package plus a high quality crystal tiara with a box and an organza garment bag and satin hanger.
The Disney Frozen Crown Package ($119.95 plus tax) is perfect for your little Anna or Elsa. You’ll receive a hairstyle with a braided hairpiece, a sparkling snowflake accessory, shimmering makeup, face gem, sash, cinch bag, nail polish and a 12” plush Olaf!
The Disney Frozen Package ($179.95 plus tax) is the same as the Disney Frozen Crown Package, with the addition of either an Anna or Elsa gown.
Let’s not forget the boys!! While most guests at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique are girls, we have seen boys there. And as any mother of girls will tell you, getting a makeover for your little man is less expensive! I seriously think the Knight Package is a bargain!!
The Knight Package ($19.95 plus tax) includes a hairstyle with gel, sword, and shield.
The Deluxe Knight Package ($79.95 plus tax) includes everything in the Knight Package plus a knight costume.
Getting a makeover on Disney Cruise Line is the perfect way to spend a day at sea! The Crown, Castle, Frozen, and Princess Signature Dress Collection packages are all available. In addition, you can choose the Royal Sea Package – 3 days of makeovers complete with 3 gowns, a Princess Royal Rolling Trunk, a Boutique frame, and a keepsake glass slipper! This one will take a bite from your budget, though, at $595. Other options exclusive to Disney Cruise Line include a Captain makeover for $119.95. This includes a captain costume, hairstyle with gel, Captain hat and plush Captain Mickey. And finally, guests (including adults!) sailing on the Disney Fantasy for Star Wars Day at Sea cruises can schedule a galactic transformation! Prices range from $79.99 – $124.99. On Pirate Party nights, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique transforms into The Pirates League, and anyone (yep, children AND adults!) can get a pirate makeover ($44.95 – $99.95).
There are age restrictions. Although there are limited exceptions (see above regarding Disney Cruise), the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is for children 3-12 years old. We’ve had experiences at both ends of that age range, and while the vast majority of princesses are in the 4-7 year old range, there certainly are those who have just turned 3 and those approaching their teen years. In fact, our tween granddaughter loved the new Boutique at Grand Floridian. She had outgrown the desire for a princess gown, but loved the floral crown, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique spirit jersey, and hair extensions. And, of course, the pampering. Everyone loves to be pampered!
Diva Tip: For adults who absolutely MUST get in on the fun, check out Character Couture! You can have a makeover inspired by your favorite Disney characters!
Not just for girls If you’re little man wants to join in the fun – let him! The knight packages are great choices if at the parks, and if you’re at sea there are even more options! You will undoubtedly see more girls, but we have seen boys at the Boutique. Let him live his story, too. It’s NOT just for girls. (If you’re at the parks and your son is dreaming of a pirate life, don’t forget about The Pirate’s League! We’ve had lots of fun experiences there, too!)
Doesn’t have to be fancy. You’ll see lots of girls wandering the parks in their princess gowns or updo hairstyles. If that’s what works for your family – great! But don’t feel pressured. You can choose simple packages, and still have an amazing, dream-come-true experience! Remember – simple hairstyles (like a floral crown and extensions) is an option. Not into the dresses? No problem! Opt for a t-shirt or spirit jersey! Your child will have a wonderful time, and the Fairy Godmothers-in-Training will do an outstanding job of making her (or him!) feel extremely special. The experience is what my grandkids remember – not the dress.
You can bring your own gown. Have a favorite gown at home? Bring it! At the beginning of your appointment, you’ll be given an opportunity to “shop” at the Boutique and choose whichever package you’d like. If you choose a package with a dress, you’ll be given a dressing room to change before you begin your makeover. But if you have your own dress, you’re welcome to use a dressing room to change. Or if you’ve worn the dress to the appointment, you’ll be ready to go. All options are welcome at the Boutique!
PhotoPass is available. During your makeover, Disney photographers will wander around the salon and snap photos to capture each moment. The photographer will give you a PhotoPass card with a unique number you can link to your Memory Maker. And after the makeover, be sure to stop by the Portrait Studio for even MORE photos! It’s free!
Allow enough time Most makeovers take about 30-60 minutes once your name is called. Just like with dining reservations, even though you have a specific time, it’s not unusual to have to wait for 10-15 minutes past your reservation time. And after your makeover, you’ll want to allow time for your photoshoot. Keep this in mind when scheduling your next event, whether it’s a dining reservation, FastPass, or nap time! This isn’t an experience you want to rush through!
It’s okay to tip your Fairy Godmother-in-Training. You’ve just received an enormous amount of pixie-dust and made forever memories. The Fairy Godmother-in-Training who granted your princesses wishes has worked hard to make every moment special and comfortable for your child. Please tip her. Once a Fairy Godmother-in-Training declined, but typically they are appreciative and extremely grateful.
You can get pixie-dusted! Just not able to make room in your schedule (or budget!) for a trip to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique? Your princess can still get some pixie dust! Just ask at the entrance. Several times we’ve stopped by and a Fairy Godmother-in-Training has been kind enough to use her magic wand and sprinkle some pixie dust over our granddaughters’ heads! That little magic glitter in your hair is guaranteed to make for a magical day!
