Many of you have read our extremely popular “How to Received Autographed Postcards from Your Favorite Disney Character” article. However, if you’ve read it, you also know that not all characters are available… or sometimes you have a special occasion coming quickly and don’t have time to wait for it to return.
Well I am pleased to announce that Hallmark has come up with an alternative: Disney e-cards! Yup, that’s right… in a matter of minutes, you can pick out your own Disney e-card and customize it with whatever personalized message you want to say and send it to as many as 50 recipients at a time (which is great if you’re a teacher doing a class letter writing project or Disney/Fairy Tale themed unit, or if you’re trying to send out a message for a holiday, a wedding anniversary party or other large celebration).
While I can’t show you any of the images of the e-cards due to Hallmark’s copyright policy, there is still plenty we can discuss, and I can provide you the link for you to peruse through the styles at your leisure. So to get started, let’s look at some of the pros and cons of creating a Disney e-card:
Pros:
Selection- As mentioned before, you have a lot better selection of characters. Looking for a card with Anna or Elsa? Taken care of! Disney villains? Not a problem! Toy Story? They’ve got you covered! And the list goes on and on. You also have a lot more variety when it comes to the special occasions you can celebrate. Whether it’s a birthday, Disney vacation announcement, I love you card, religious event, just because, or some other milestone… Hallmark and Disney have you covered.
Personalization- Because you can customize your own message, you can say exactly what you want to say, such as, “I can’t wait for you to come visit me on your next vacation, Jake!” or “Happy Birthday Karen! I hope you have a magical day!” It’s much more personal than a postcard that just has your first name and address on the back.
Speed- As mentioned before, you can make this card in a matter of minutes… You no longer have to wait week after week for the pixie dusted mail from Cinderella and her Royal friends or Mickey and his Pals.
Animation- These cards are all animated with short little clips of your favorite Disney characters. It just adds a little more pixie dust to your email as opposed to receiving a postcard that is just one of many printed out and mailed to the masses.
International Delivery- While I cannot 100% confirm this since I do not live outside of the United States, according to another one of our writers who lives in the United Kingdom, you CAN create these cards and have them delivered to any email address around the world. For those of you who are unable to participate in the postcard program due to location, this may be a great alternative for you.
Cons:
Cost- The downside with this program is unlike the autographed postcard program, the e-cards are not free. To make Hallmark e-cards, the cost is $5 per month (you can cancel at any time), $1.50 per month for a year, or $1.25 per month for two years. However, if you’re looking for some extra Disney magic, this can be a fun and quick way to get a Disney e-card, and because of all of the pros associated with the program, it may not be a deterrent or deal breaker for you.
Nothing’s Perfect- You still won’t find every character or scene you want to convey your message, so you still might be out of luck, but you as mentioned before, you have a lot more variety.
Display- While you can print out your cards, it most likely won’t be the same quality, and also, you might be limited on options to display or showcase your e-card.
Your Mailbox is Empty- Yes, receiving an email is fast, convenient, and efficient… but it’s still not quite the same as receiving something in the mail with your name on it. While this may not be a deal breaker for you, I’d still rather receive something special in the mail than just an email.
Whichever program you choose, we hope you have some added pixie dust to your day and that it makes your special occasion a little more magical!
