Do you love Disney? Have you ever wondered how you can become a DVC member? Let us help get you on your way by introducing you to DVC Resale Market (check out their webpage here)!! Who is DVC Resale Market and what do they do you ask? Well, no worries. I was able to catch Nick Cotton, the owner and co-founder (and a dear friend of mine) for a short phone interview.
Before Nick Cotton started this business, he was working for, you guessed it, Disney. He began his Disney career in 2004 as an Industrial Engineer. In 2008, he transitioned to the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) where he became a Senior Vacation Club Guide. He was the top salesman in DVC from 2008-2014 and he was Rookie of the Year in 2008. He has a long list of achievements while at DVC and you can check those out here.
When combined with his other co-workers (see their bios here), they have over 50 years of experience working as Vacation Club Guides for the owner/developer (Disney) which is a claim no other re-seller can make.
What is DVC Resale Market?
Brokering to purchase and sell DVC memberships. We are unique in the way that the entire front line staff has at least 5 years of DVC experience each. They can bring the awesome Disney customer service to their line of work.
When and how did the company start?
I started the company roughly a year ago in June 2014. The reason why I started was because I had about 3,000 members, and from time to time, several of them wanted to sell their membership, and there was no one around that I could refer them to and feel comfortable that they were in good hands. With this team I’ve formed, we have the Disney experience along with the Disney customer service, and can help customers even after the process is over.
How does it work to sell points?
You first start by getting an appraisal for your points. (Get an appraisal on your points here.) You will be contacted by one of my team members to then walk you through the process. First, you will provide your contract information. Next, we like to know your point activity and bank/borrow activity. After that, we will work to get you an offer for your points. Typically, 90% of contracts are sold within the first 30 days. Once the contract is sold, it takes about 60 days for the entire process to close. Within the 1st 30 days, Disney has the Right of First Refusal (ROFR), and statistically, they have only bought back 3% of the contracts we have bought. Once Disney refuses, it will go to the title company and then the closing processing can begin.
Why should we choose DVC Resale to sell our points?
First and foremost, you are choosing a licensed broker (which Disney highly recommends a licensed broker). We are insured and our contracts are reviewed by multiple attorneys. You are also getting a certain level of education, so much so, that not many other brokers can compete. You are also held at higher standards (that’s where the Disney customer service comes from). We assist you from beginning to end and even beyond closing. It also helps, that our team combined, has over 50 years of DVC experience, all of us which are DVC owners ourselves.
