Walt Disney World’s Mobile Order option has, for the most part, been a huge blessing to those who don’t like to stand in line. I can’t tell you how much time we have saved using Mobile Order. Of course, there have been a few times when we have used it and noticed that it seemed to take longer than the normal way to order. Thankfully, those instances have been few and far between, it’s usually much quicker for us to use Mobile Order. If you are unsure what Mobile Order is, Disney Magic Diva explains it here.
We recently celebrated because Walt Disney World had just submitted their proposal to reopen their parks after being shut down due to Covid-19. The reason I bring this up when discussing Mobile Order is because part of their proposal involves adding more dining options to Mobile Order so there will be less human to human contact. While I think that’s a great step in the right direction, I feel like there is even more Disney can do to make the Mobile Order option top notch.
- Make ALL Disney Quick-Service restaurants available for Mobile Order
At the moment, there are only select Disney Parks restaurants that you can use Mobile Order to place your order. It’s wonderful to hear that Disney will be adding more dining options to the current list of restaurants on Mobile Order. But let’s not stop at just adding a few more options. In my opinion, all Disney quick-service restaurants in the parks, at the resorts and in Disney Springs. should be on the Mobile Order list.
2. Add ALL of the menu items to Mobile Order for each Quick-Service restaurant
As of our last trip, where we utilized Mobile Order as much as possible, we noticed there were several places where only certain items could be ordered via mobile order. I’m not sure why the full menu wouldn’t be available for Mobile Order, but we definitely saw the discrepancy in this, this is something that should be taken care of soon. With the full menu of the quick-service restaurant of your choice available to you through Mobile Order, there would be more likelihood of choosing to use Mobile Order over the standard option of waiting in line to order and pay.
3. Let Guests add Disney gift cards as an option to pay for meals on Mobile Order
At the moment, you can only use credit cards or a Disney Dining Plan to pay for items ordered via Mobile Order. Many guests like to purchase Disney gift cards ahead of their trip as a way to pay for their meals at a discount. I know in the past, we have experimented and used only gift cards to pay for our meals instead of credit cards or a dining plan. You can purchase gift cards at a slight discount at places such as Target or Sam’s, so it does save a little bit of money. The downside is, you can’t add it to your magic band as a way to pay and you can’t add it to your My Disney Experience app to pay for your Mobile Order purchases. You are left carrying around gift cards throughout your trip and that can be a nuisance to some. If there were an option to add gift cards to your My Disney Experience account, the convenience of ordering your meal via Mobile Order would be a quick and easy option to have rather than standing in a long line and waiting to pay with a gift card.
These are just three options I’ve discovered would greatly benefit both Walt Disney World and guests if they would be applied to Mobile Order. Have you come across any helpful tips that would make the experience a little more magical for Disney Parks guests when using Mobile Order to place a meal order? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
