I have a little confession. I am kinda late to the “wear a customized Disney t-shirt to the parks” party. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to join in the celebration. After all, who can see all the adorable families in the parks with their matching shirts, and not feel like they want to join in on that fun? It’s just that I’m not much of a t-shirt wearing girl. My sons and husband love to wear their Disney tees, but me – not so much. Until now.
Following Walt’s advice, I just kept pursuing my dreams. I kept having courage and faith, and kept deligently perusing Etsy looking for that perfect combination of comfy, soft, stylish shirt with a clever, unique design. One afternoon I stumbed on RusticandRitzyHD, and I felt like my dreams had come true! Such unique, original designs I had not seen anywhere else! I felt like Fairy Godmother had finally waved her wand in my direction!
RusticandRitzyHD is located in North Carolina and owned by Danielle Hughes. She is absolutely everything you could hope for in a vendor! I had several questions when ordering my shirt – from sizing to shirt colors to vinyl colors and even a little bit of customization. She answered every question promptly and cheerfully.
With so many distinctive designs, it may be difficult to choose! And once you decide on a design, you can also customize your shirt with a choice of more than 20 shirt colors and tons of vinyl colors. Start doing the math on how many combinations you could make, and you may get a headache! (Actually, I purchased one shirt, then worked with Danielle to arrange this review and giveaway. She supplied me with a second shirt in exchange for this review, however all comments are strictly my own honest opinions.)
I finally decided on a Toy Story shirt that used symbols to say “To Infinity and Beyond.” I loved how it was a clever and original take on a well-known Disney phrase. I thought about having it made in another color, but ultimately decided I really liked the simplicity of the one pictured in the shop, so I ordered it just like it was portrayed. I thought it would be perfect to wear either at home or in the parks, especially this summer with the opening of Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. You can purchase it here. For my complimentary shirt for this review, I chose a design which had the longitude and latitude of Cinderella Castle, and the words, “Take me to the castle.” For this one, I chose a different color shirt and vinyl than was originally pictured in the shop.
I counted the days until my shirts arrived, and rushed to the mailbox when they were delivered. I was so pleased! When I opened my package, I was struck by how incredibly soft the shirts were! RusticandRitzyHD uses Bella + Canvas unisex jersey t-shirts. They run fairly true to size (maybe a smidge on the larger side) and I really loved how long they were! It would be easy to wear these with your favorite leggings! I was also impressed with the lightweight (but NOT thin!) fabric, and how easily they flowed on my body. Ever have a shirt be stiff or rough? Pretty uncomfortable, right? No worry about that with these shirts. They are smooth, light, and so very soft!!
When I finally had the chance to wear my shirts in the parks, I certainly had many compliments! A few cast members asked me to stop so they could get a better look at my Castle shirt, and several cast members and guests asked about my Toy Story shirt. (Some of them laughed and admitted it took them a couple minutes to figure it out!) Both shirts added to the magic of the day!
I really appreciated that Danielle included washing instructions with the shirts. The tags on the 100% cotton shirts say to machine wash warm, tumble dry low, and use a medium iron. But the instructions included with my customized shirts directed me to use cold water, tumble dry low, and no iron. (The modified instructions, I assume, are meant to help preserve the vinyl.) I washed my shirts according to the packaged instructions, and am very pleased with the results.
Shirts at RusticandRitzyHD are $23.99 (XXL are a little more) and include FREE shipping! (always a big selling point for me!) The shop shows only adult shirts, but youth sizes are available. Just ask! If you are in a rush for your shirt, you will want to pay particular attention to delivery dates. Currently, the shop is so busy it may be about two weeks before your item ships. There is, however, an option for rush shipping. Just be sure to message Danielle to double check delivery dates if you need your shirt quickly. In my experience, she was extremely prompt in replying to messages!
