The resort itself is VERY large and spread out. It can hold quite a lot of people so its usually not that difficult to get a room here.
Grounds, Entertainment, and Pools
Designed after the New Orleans plantation houses and bayou lodges that sit on large acreage, with beautiful gardens , multi-pool locations, and Fulton’s General Store. Riversides “twin” resort, Port Orleans offers everything from A-Z and is just next door. You can catch a bus or the boat or even walk over there. You can enjoy their Arcade, the Riverside Mill food court (for quick service meals), Boatwright’s restaurant (for table service). You should also try the River Roost Lounge for spirits, wings, pizza, and music fun, offered every Wednesday thru Saturday night with a”ye ha sing-along”with Bob Jackson.
I found the whole resort to be very family and child friendly, even the River Roost Lounge.
The architecture is well done to give you that feeling you have been transported in time to the “Old South” and were dropped in New Orleans along the river banks of the Mississippi.

The grounds offer 5 pools, coin laundry locations, 4 bus stops to give you free transportation to your parks regardless of how far away you are from the front desk, outdoor movies and campfire. They offer boat and bike rentals, cane pole fishing, and free access to Downtown Disney via a resort boat.
Rooms
When you walk into your room you will like be greeted with Mickey head made out of rolled towels on the edge of the bed. The rooms are laid out in style and comfort to give you an excellent stay. I found the rooms to very spacious and clean.
Price ranges at all different levels offered depending on the view and / or accessibility. The closer you are to the main building the more expensive your room will be. You have an option of one king size bed or two queen size beds, and most of the rooms with a mini fridge , table and chairs , small safe in the wall , and a under the bed tumble bed or pulled down off wall.

The Roost is a nice place to relax after a long day at the park, you can sit at a table or relax with family, kids, or friends at the comfortable couch and chairs.
We really enjoyed both of our stays at Port Orleans Riverside. You can read more about its sister resort, Port Orleans French Quarter by clicking HERE.
We stayed there during our Christmas trip and I would stay there in the future. Very friendly and very helpful. I was even able to order presents and have them delivered to the hotel and they were waiting for us when we arrived. Santa visited the lobby and we were able to get pictures with him. Lots of pool activities and the life guards were very professional. We felt very comfortable letting our kids (13, 12&10) venture down by themselves. I would totally recommend it especially for a first-timer like we were.
