Polynesian Village Polls- Splash Your Way to Good Ol' Disney Fun! All too often, as I read post on social media folks have a non-stop jam packed trip. A wonderful way to experience all you can but not my cup of tea. I need downtime to truly unwind and nap if we’re being honest. I love naps! I also need what I call “solar panel up” time. What do I mean by that? I currently live in New England where we seem to have longer and longer winters. So my “solar panel up” time is intentional pool and sun bathing time where I soak up as much solar warmth and vitamin D as humanly possible. In other words, I imagine I am a solar panel storing away those wonderful rays for winter – kinda like Wall-E!

I have learned over the years, that while there is no bad resort pool at Disney, there are certainly some that are better than others. For example, the Bay Lake Towers Disney Vacation Club pool is lack-luster in my opinion. Where I think Disney Imagineers have excelled are resorts pools like Port Orleans French Quarter, The Yacht and Beach Club and the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows.

I may be partial but I love the two pools at the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. The Lava Pool features none other than a towering volcano that has a hidden waterslide fit for adults. A waterfall that lends itself to a grotto and zero-depth entry. There is the prerequisite spa, lounge and bar that offers adult beverages and snacks, and a fun looking kids-zone. This is the main pool and always has a lot of action. Plenty of patio space, lounge chairs, complimentary towels and often has a cast member ready to blast Disney music and entertain the kids with games and prizes. We enjoy soaking in the community atmosphere, dipping in the water behind the waterfall, and partaking in an adult beverage or two.

The Oasis Pool is encircled by four of the long houses yet feels intimate thanks to the greenery and landscaping. This is also known as the quiet pool — while kids are still welcome — it’s a pool meant for a more relaxing pool experience. Often times this is our go-to afternoon spot — an intermission to our day if you will. Where we disconnect, nap, relax, and regroup before we head out for the evening.

Polynesian Resort Oasis Pool

Similar to the Lava Pool the Oasis Pool features ample patio space but the lounge chairs more generously spaced out. You will also find complimentary towels, a lovely lounge, bar and spa (aka hot tub!). In addition, the Oasis Quick Service Counter is ready to offer small bits like the fantastic Kahlua Pork Sliders –
DIVA TIP: The drink fountain opens early in the morning allowing those with refillable mugs to get their coffee, tea and the like. Saving a long trip to Captain Cooks!

Unique to the Oasis Pool are three cabanas known as the Oasis Pool Patio’s that can be rented. I like the concept of these cabana’s and find they are reasonably priced ($25 for a 1/2 day to $40 for a full day) but have not rented one yet. Mainly because space at the Oasis is ample. In contrast to the Lava Pool soft Hawaiian music, similar to what plays in the Ceremonial house, is pumped in.

The few hours spent at the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows pools each day is just what my soul needs on vacation. It does wonders for my mind as the sun, water, sounds and smells wash away the world.
