The rides in Fantasyland are always a favorite for the D’land Diva family, as they are for many families who visit Disneyland. There is something magical about stepping into Fantasyland, seeing the carousal in the middle of it and Dumbo at the end of it. In the middle of Fantasyland, however, are several good dark rides: Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan and Pinocchio’s Daring Journey.
Like many of the dark rides at Disneyland, Pinocchio’s tells the story behind the 1940 movie of it’s namesake. Guests ride on a woodcarver’s cart through different scenes from Pinocchio’s story. While the ride starts off jolly, it soon turns to the very dark and scary for some small kids, Pleasure Island. It is almost as if the evil puppeteer is chasing you in your cart and it can be quite noisy. Both my littles are not fond of this part of the ride, nor of Monstro, who pops out toward the end of the Pleasure Island scenes. The end, however, is magical!
Diva Tip: Listen for the famous “When You Wish Upon a Star” song.
Pinocchio’s never really has a super long line, you can expect to wait an average of about 15 minutes. Like many Fantasyland rides, it gets crowded in the middle of the day and is less so at the beginning and the end of the day. Guests in wheelchairs and motorized vehicles must transfer to ride vehicles. As always, assistance is available. The accessible entrance is through the exit of the ride. The scream factor for the ride is a 3. Darkness, loudness and the intimidating Pleasure Island scenes may cause issues for some children.
When you wish upon a star, all your dreams come true!
