Walt Disney World offers so many different options for guests staying at a Walt Disney Resort. There are some guests who can only afford to stay in a value resort, while some may turn up their nose to such a thought. For me, the Art of Animation Resort offers a good middle ground, where you can get a great value without sacrificing theme or quality. A great example of this would be the Little Mermaid Rooms at the Art of Animation Resort. So many people have offered their opinion or reviewed these rooms, but what the heck; one more won’t hurt!
Let’s face it; value resorts sometimes get a bad rap. But if you simply need to save where you can, or you spend little time in your room, it’s a great option! I’ve heard some complaints about value resorts, but I haven’t found this to be true at the Art of Animation Resort! Specifically, the Little Mermaid Rooms are great for groups of two to four. Okay, so maybe four is pushing it, but you get the point. The Walt Disney World website will tell you that the room will sleep up to four adults; but with a value sized room with two double beds… well, you get the idea.
For a value resort, Disney really outdid themselves with this room! The themeing is so much fun, and any fans of the Little Mermaid will feel right at home! I found our room to be very clean and everything was in good working order! I really only had two complaints. One complaint is that while the rooms offer the same normal amenities found in most value resort rooms, the one all important amenity missing is the coffee maker. If I’m being honest, I only use the room coffee makers to hold me over until I can get to a Starbucks, but that’s beside the point! Knowing that this wasn’t an option in our room, we chose to bring our own Keurig, which helped tremendously!
My other complaint is room for storage. If you’re used to a deluxe or moderate resort, you’ll find that the Little Mermaid Rooms are a bit smaller; and in some cases, a lot smaller. There’s a small table and chairs set in the room, which are very cute! But due to lack of counter space, the table became our Keurig/coffee counter. We found that once you start shopping in the parks or Disney Springs, you’ll have little space to store your treasures, especially if you brought a lot of items from home. But if space isn’t an issue for you, I think this is a great room!
I loved the shower! Disney did a great job making you feel like you were in Ariel’s secret grotto!
And the sink area is great with their sea shell lights and coral framed mirror!
One of my favorite things is the shower curtain, as well as the curtain between the room and the sink area! Does anyone know where I can buy those? The beds were very comfy and I loved the shell lights on the shell headboards. Not to mention the very fun purple octopus clothes hanger!
Overall, I think the Little Mermaid Rooms are great! When you walk in, it will be hard to not break into a chorus of “Under the Sea”! In fact, that’s now stuck in my head. But take my advice and book a stay at one of the Little Mermaid Rooms and be part of Ariel’s world!
