I have a confession to make….well, a few of them actually. I’ve heard confession is good for the soul, so here I am, ready to spill all my deep, dark Disney secrets.
My first, and probably biggest confession would be that I love MOST things Disney, but I don’t actually love ALL things Disney. Let’s face it, there are going to be Disney Parks rides that not everyone is crazy about, and I have mine. I absolutely cannot stand Captain EO at Epcot. I know, I know, it stars Michael Jackson, how can I not love it? I don’t know how, but I find it long and boring. I actually cheered when they closed it, excitedly hoping they would put an attraction in that I could really get into. My excitement was for nothing, though, as they have recently brought back Captain EO. Sigh. (UPDATE: after writing this article, this attraction has once again been closed.)

812On the same thread of attractions and confessions, I actually happen to LOVE Stitch’s Great Escape in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. I actually feel bad for poor Stitch, he get’s such a bad rap for this attraction, so many people out there don’t like it. Perhaps it’s because of the “safety harness” that is lowered to your shoulders. It can be heavy and cumbersome, and if that’s the reason you don’t like the attraction, I actually have a Soarin’ Diva Tip for you to help with that. Raise your hands up above your shoulders to a level where you would feel more comfortable with the safety harness. The harness itself is designed to stop when it feels resistance, in most cases that would be your shoulders, but if you put your hands up a little higher above your shoulders, then it won’t actually touch your shoulders. I find the attraction itself fun as I sit back and watch all of Stitch’s antics.  If you haven’t actually had the chance to visit Stitch’s Great Escape, Florida Diva has an excellent review of the attraction here.

Pop Century.  Not.  A.  Fan.  I am probably the only person in the World (see what I did there?) who does not like Pop Century.  To be fair, maybe I had a bad experience and should give it a shot…but…nah, I’ll stick with my favorite resort, Port Orleans, French Quarter.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the theming of Pop Century, it’s fun and cute.  The room itself however, could have provided a slightly better experience than I had.  We were on the bottom floor and I spent every single night listening to everybody walk by our room, talking loudly, laughing and having a great time.  Yay, I’m glad they were having such fun.  But I wanted to sleep.  When I wasn’t enjoying the various night sounds of every person in the resort walking by my room, I was enjoying listening to all my surrounding neighbors using their bathrooms.  Yep.  That’s how I want to spend my vacation evenings, listening to bathroom habits of complete strangers.  I guess my point is, the walls were thin and nothing was left to the imagination.  And I still needed sleep.  I know I’m alone in my take on Pop Century, so to be fair, I’m going to share Tangled Diva’s review here and an older review from Diva Mommy here.

Beignets.  I was sooo excited to try these at Walt Disney World Resorts.  I had always heard how wonderful they were, how absolutely heavenly and divine they were. I was soooo disappointed.  I guess I had just built my expectations up too high for the mighty beignet to live up to.  My husband LOVES them, everyone else LOVES them.  Me?  Eh, I could take them or leave them.  They aren’t bad, they just aren’t as great as I was expecting them to be.

Mickey Rice Krispy Treats.  My favorite snack of all.  Love, love, love them.  Honestly, I would rather have a chocolate dipped Mickey Rice Krispy Treat over a Mickey Ice Cream Bar.  I’m not sure everyone else is fanatical about them as I am.  I actually horde as many of my snack credits as possible so on the last day of our stay, I can grab as many Rice Krispy Treats as I can to take home and enjoy for as long as possible.  Ahhh…now I’m craving a chocolate dipped Mickey Rice Krispy Treat.  Shoot, I don’t have any.

How about another food confession….Turkey legs.  I’ve never tried them and I have no intention of ever trying them.  Why?  The smell of them wafting through the park absolutely nauseates me.  Something about that scent sends my stomach lurching every time I smell it.  It offends my olfactory senses so much, I absolutely can’t take the thought of even tasting the turkey leg.  Don’t be angry, I’m sure the taste is delicious, everyone else seems to think so, but that’s something I’ll never discover.  I just can’t bring myself to eat one.

IMG_2475Okay, here it is…my final Disney confession…I’m kind of nervous.  I’m not sure if I should share this or not, I mean, ya’ll are going to think I’m ridiculous.  Crazy even.  Here goes…I, gulp, I hide all the Mickey Mouse soaps, shampoos and conditioners in my suitcase every time Mousekeeping restocks them so I can bring more home.  I don’t even use them, we bring our own soap and shampoo.  Something about those cute little Mickey Mouse shampoo and conditioner bottles call out to me though.  Those little Mickey wrapped soaps call my name, they beckon me, crying, take me..take me.  I’m right here for you.  It’s a call I can’t seem to resist.  I just love them and must have them.  As of right now, they reside in a cabinet in my boys bathroom, but I’m pretty sure after my next trip, I’m going to have to find a larger spot for them all.

There!  I did it, I confessed and I do feel better.  Whew!

Overall, there are definitely more things I love, adore and relish about Disney than not, why else would I be a Disney Diva and continue to visit Walt Disney World if I didn’t absolutely love it.  But I’m willing to bet that every single one of us has something they don’t like or even can’t stand.  I would love to hear your thoughts.  Do you agree or disagree with any of my likes and dislikes?  Feel free to comment with your confessions, just so I don’t feel so alone in revealing my secret/not secret any more Disney confessions.
