Love Disney? Tattos? Is Making it Permanent Right For You?

By: Pixie Hollow Diva

Tattoos have been around probably forever.. Many different cultures have them and of course the American culture has them. Everyone has their own meanings and reasons for getting a tattoo. Not everyone agrees with a tattoo and not everyone feels the same way about them. Some people say they are generational thing others might just think your flat-out crazy for permanently putting something on your body that will never go away. I am 34 years old and I got my first tattoo when I was 18. Go figure… Why 18? Because I was finally legal and able to do it at 18 and yes, that is part of the reason why I did so. However, I did not go out and get something that did not mean something. My first tattoo is on my upper right shoulder and not too big. It’s two hearts representing my birthday which happens to be on Valentine’s Day. Now here’s where the Disney fun comes in. A couple of years later I got my second tattoo and that was a Disney tattoo.

Most people following this blog, are big Disney lovers and probably look at Disney differently than just a vacation spot. To many people Disney is a way of life or a way of thinking and a true real feeling deep down inside. I have always loved Tinker Bell. I love the meaning behind Tinker Bell, to me, she is fierce and can stand on her own. I think those are two extremely strong qualities that all women should possess whether it is hidden deep down inside, or they let it shine strong. I found an image of Tinker Bell that I liked when I was 20 years old and got the tattoo done. (it was actually from my little sisters sandal) I had gotten the Tinker Bell on my left foot. I chose the top of my foot because I could always hide it if I wanted to. Although I am fine with the whole idea of a tattoo and the idea of it being permanent for me personally I like to have tattoos in a spot that I could hide if I had to or as I got older and did not want them showing for whatever reason.  I was extremely happy with the way my Tinker Bell came out. I did the colors of Tinker Bell and it was just a solo Tinker Bell in the middle of my foot flying upward. Over the years the tattoo had faded, and a lot of the color was not as bright and vibrant, and I kept holding off on getting it redone.

Finally almost 14 years later I finally decided to get her touched up and re-done.  I had it redone by the same person who originally did my Tinkerbell years back.  Brian Jr., the owner of  The Ink Spot in Linden NJ did a great job both times!

I have two young girls who absolutely love Disney. They get the whole idea of what Disney really means. I want my girls to be strong fierce women one day, like Tinker Belle.  Since I was going to redo my tattoo I decided to try to incorporate something having to do with my girls with the redo of Tinker Bell. I came up with shading the Tinker Bell in and not doing color this time. I decided to add a wand in her hand and some pixie dust floating down to a Peter Pan quote, “never grow up” with two stars next to it to represent my girls. Tinker Bell has been a deep meaning for me and important since I was young, and the saying represents my children.  The tattoo means something to me and it’s not nonsense and nothing I just randomly picked out of thin air and said let me do this because I think it’s cool. Of course some people do that and that is totally up to them and as it’s their body.  Like I mentioned earlier, Disney to me and my family is a way of life. This may sound crazy to some people yet I’m sure other people totally get it. To me Disney is not just a place where several places. It’s not just characters or great food or rides and attractions.

Our own Sleepy Diva also has a Disney Tattoo!

To me and my family, Disney represents love and family. For some reason ever since I was young I have always loved Disney and it’s not just the cartoons or the movies. I feel like I connect with the whole Disney idea of love, family and happiness. When you step foot into something related to Disney that feeling comes over you. If you have that feeling about Disney and you know the importance of it when it comes to you and your family and you want to permanently make that a staple in your life I say go for the Disney tattoo. I have seen so many awesome tattoos between different pages I follow through Instagram and even just the Internet in general. I have a friend who also has a great Disney tattoo!  If you want to see some cool Disney tattoos, follow disneytattooart on Instagram.
