If you have a young Star Wars fan in your house like I do, what better way to let them live a Star Wars dream then by training to be a Jedi? At Disney’s Hollywood Studios you can make their dream come true by signing them up for Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Your youngling (between the age of 4-12) can be trained in the ways of the Force and test their skills against the Dark Side, not only against the infamous Darth Vader but possibly against the Seventh Sister as well (a character from the popular TV series Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD).
How do I sign my child up, you may ask? I will tell you! First check what time Hollywood Studios opens on the day you plan to visit the park. Then plan on arriving at the park at least 30-40 minutes before park opening. Once the park is open you will head over to the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost gift shop, there will be cast members holding signs pointing you in the right direction, and there you will get in line for Jedi training sign up. You must have the child/ children with you who wish to participate in the show. A cast member will ask them some basic questions making sure the child can follow directions and will be comfortable on stage fighting the Dark Side. If they are, then you will head over to another cast member and be given the available times left for your child to participate in the Jedi Training show. You are required to return to the Indiana Jones gift shop 30 minutes prior to your show time and the show will last about 30 minutes, so make sure you don’t schedule Jedi Training too close to a Fastpass or dining reservation you may have already made. You will be given a receipt showing your child’s show time and the time to return. Disney Diva Tip: make sure you keep that because it will be needed again later.
When you return to the Indiana Jones gift shop you will see blue ovals lined up outside of the shop. This is where you bring your child/ children to get ready for Jedi Training. Here a cast member will come out and check everyone’s receipt showing they have returned at the right time for the right show. After this the children are all given their Jedi robes and are lined up in 2 separate rows. These 2 rows are each given a separate Star Wars character name and the child must stay in their row as they walk over to the Jedi Temple (located next to Star Tours). The great thing about the new Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple is now there are 2 levels on the stage. This allows for more children to participate in each show which allows more children to be able to participate each day. After they arrive at the stage one row of children is directed to the upper level and the other row of children go to the lower level. Then the fun begins! Under the training of the Jedi, the children learn how to use their lightsabers to fight against the forces of evil. The temple opens and the children must use their newly learned skill to fight their greatest fear. The top-level will be fighting against Darth Vader and the bottom level will be fighting the Seventh Sister. The children each come face-to-face against their villain with help from their Jedi trainer. Just when they think they have defeated the dark side the temple opens once again and an even darker villain appears!
Kylo Ren appears to fight against the young Jedi trainer! Luckily the children are able to help the Jedi trainer defeat Kylo Ren by using the Force and sending him back into the temple!
What a great experience for any young Star Wars fan…and even for us old school Star Wars fans to be able to see our children defeat the Dark Side!
