Next to chocolate, ice cream is probably my favorite food group. In reality, it’s a pretty close toss-up. So anything at Walt Disn06ey World that involves chocolate or ice cream – well that is definitely something I’ll be sure to check out! When The Ganachery opened at Disney Springs, I was in heaven! And the Kitchen Sink at Disney’s Beaches and Cream Soda Shop – yep, we’ve done that several times. So I was really excited to finally get to try Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk.
If you’re from the New York area, you may already be familiar with Ample Hills Creamery. They make their ice cream on site from high quality ingredients. Then they add creative mix-ins and the result is delicious, whimsical ice-cream flavors. Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, Malty Salty Pretzel Punch, Coffee Toffee Coffee, and Baked/Unbaked were some of the options on the day we visited.
But probably my favorite thing about Ample Hills Creamery is they offer Ice Cream Flights! That’s right! Forget the rum or beer flights you can get at Trader Sam’s, give me the ice cream flight at Ample Hills! For less than $10, we were able to try 6 different flavors. The hard part was choosing!
We knew we wanted to try Sally Sells Seashells. It was a limited time offering exclusive to the Disney’s BoardWalk location. It’s description of fresh and fluffy orange marshmallow ice cream with housemade salty chocolate seashells made it an even easier choice.
Diva Tip: Limited Time flavors change periodically, so be sure to check their menu before heading over there if you’re looking for a particular flavor. (Although, really, there’s SURE to be something you love!) With the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi they were offering 3 speciality Star Wars flavors!
We still had 5 more flavors to choose, and here’s what we picked:
Peppermint Pattie (cool peppermint ice cream with flakes of dark chocolate and housemade peppermint patties)
Dark Chocolate (rich dark chocolate ice cream made with 72% E. Guittard chocolate)
Strawberries and Cream (smooth and pure strawberries ice cream)
Lemon Sky (light and billowy lemon ginger sorbet made with a splash of limoncello)
Vanilla Bean (vanilla bean ice cream made with Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans)
Since there’s not really seating available inside Ample Hills, we took our ice cream outside and found a nice, shady bench on the BoardWalk. What a wonderful treat on a hot, Florida afternoon! Each flavor scoop was more than enough for two of us to get a good idea of exactly what the ice cream tasted like, and we loved them all! Fairy Diva has also visited Ample Hills, and from her review, she agrees that it is absolutely scrumptious!
Ample Hills also serves sundaes with Ooey Gooey ButterCake or a brownie and your choice of ice cream. Prefer a float? There’s non-alcoholic (with root beer, cola or blood orange) as well as alcoholic (hard root beer, hard black cherry cider or prosecco) versions! If you’re looking for a cup or cone, there are several options – the basic sugar, cake, and waffle as well as more upscale cookie, M&M’s, pretzel and chocolate chip. They do not accept the Disney Dining Plan.
So the next time you’re looking for a cool treat, don’t forget to stroll by Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk. And if you’re looking for some help in booking your trip, contact Patricia at All for Dreams Travel. She can answer all your questions, and her services are FREE! (so you’ll have plenty of money left in your budget for more ice cream!)
