Recently Mini-Wishes Devo turned 1 year old! I can’t believe how fast the last year has gone! Since the little man loves everything Mickey Mouse we decided that would be the perfect theme for his party! We are not the kind of people who throw big extravagant birthday parties. That being said we still wanted to make the day themed and fun for all of the guests!
Guest List & Invitations:
We knew that this party would be primarily for our family and close friends. We ended up having about 20 people there which was perfect! We wanted something fun for the invitations, that was Mickey themed but wouldn’t break the bank. We ended up finding a layout on Etsy. We used the KidsPartyBoutique shop and they were great! The owner of the shop had our picture inserted and the proof sent back to us within a day. Check out their shop here!
Decorations:
Any Disney party needs great decorations! I did some searching online and at local party stores to find what I wanted. I ended up buying the majority of our decor at Party City and Walmart. They had very similar products so we did a lot of back and forth looking before we decided what we wanted. Party City had a selection of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed decorations but also had a section for Baby’s First Birthday that was Mickey Mouse as well. We decided to pull a little from each section to cover everything we wanted. We definitely did not buy everything that they had to offer, but went with what we thought would be essential to make the party area look fun and colorful!
Cake and cupcakes:
For this party we decided that we wanted to do individual cupcakes rather than a larger cake. We also knew that we did want to have a small “smash cake” for the birthday boy! We did some searching online and found some picture of examples for what we wanted. We ended up getting both the cupcakes and cake from a local company run by a woman that my mother knew called “clark’s CUT IT OUT cookies & more”. She was great and they turned out perfect!
For this party we didn’t do any games or form of entertainment because we knew there would only be a very small handful of kids there and that the party would not last long. We look forward to the parties in the future where we will have more kids running around so we can plan games and fun activities for everyone!
