We live so far away from the magic we always need to fly to Walt Disney World Resort. Upon arrival at Orlando’s International Airport (MCO), we take advantage of the complimentary transportation to our resort through Disney’s Magical Express. We stay on property, and delight in living in the “Disney Bubble” until it’s time to get on that Tragical Express back to the airport.
But what if we needed our own car? There are, of course, several options. Ride share services such as Uber of Lyft are very popular, and the new Minnie Van service for transportation within Disney property is certainly a memorable experience! These choices are great for getting to an early character meal at a different resort, spending a day at a non-Disney theme park (*gasp!*), or making a quick trip for groceries. But what if you wanted to travel somewhere a little further away? Maybe you want to explore a beach, visit Kennedy Space Center, or get to a cruise port to extend your Disney vacation.
That was exactly our predicament when we took our first Disney Cruise. Our particular cruise sailed from Miami, so using Disney’s ground transportation to the port was not an option. (You can purchase ground transportation from the airport or Magic Kingdom to Port Canaveral, but not to Miami.) After some research into limo companies and shuttle services, we decided to rent a car. That’s when we discovered the pixie dust provided by Disney’s Car Care Center!
Located close to Magic Kingdom, the Car Care Center would make Lightning McQueen proud! It has everything “car” you could want – repair services, fuel, roadside assistance, and, thankfully for us, car rental companies! Alamo and National both operate from the Car Care Center. We found an extremely competitive rate for the car we needed. What’s even better is they provide a complimentary shuttle from your resort to the Car Care Center so you can easily pick-up (or drop-off) your rental.
We reserved our car online a few months before we traveled. We just selected Disney Car Care as our pick up/drop off location. When it was time to pick up the car, we called the rental company and they sent a shuttle to the resort to pick up my husband.
While the Car Care Center is operates 7 days a week, it does have limited hours. Be aware of that, and plan accordingly. We had a long drive to Miami, and wanted to board the ship as early as possible. That meant we needed an early start on the road. It made more sense for us to pick up the car the evening before we left, that way we could get on the road bright and early in the morning.
Diva Tip: Only the designated driver needs to go pick up the car. We had a large group, but just my husband went to pick up the car. The rest of our party continued to enjoy park time!
The Car Care Center also offers other automotive services. If the Evil Queen casts a spell on your car and it is in need of repair while visiting Walt Disney World Resort, the Car Care Center can help! Let the professional mechanics work their magic, and you spend your time in the most magical waiting room on Earth!
Likewise, if you need roadside assistance the Car Care Center can come to the rescue! Car won’t start? Just give them a call! (407) 824-0976 Get a flat tire? They can help! Whatever you may need to help your wheels get moving again, the Disney Car Care Center is there to provide some pixie dust and get you on your way.
So the next time you find yourself in the Disney Bubble, but car troubles threaten to burst that bubble, just give the Disney Car Care Center a call.
