Growing up I always enjoyed Disney movies and Disney items but did not have any real interest in collecting anything Disney related.
That all changed after my very first trip to Disney World. In July of 2009 I finally got to go to Disney World for my honeymoon. I was in awe at everything Disney had to offer and how wonderfully amazing the cast members were to us newlyweds. They went out of their way to congratulate us and certain ones even gave us wonderful souvenirs to help remember our special visit. Our first mouse ears were the bride and groom ears and we loved them! We also purchased a wedding snow globe with Mickey and Minnie to have to display with our ears. I guess you could say this is how our Disney collection started.
Our next trip to Disney World was 2 years later and included a 12 yr old and a 17 month old. I had never been interested in the trading pins but a trip with a 12 year old changed all that! We became huge fans of the pin trading and over the past 2 years have managed to build up an amazing display of pins.
A year later we went to Disney World again and this time my 13 yr old became a fan of Vinylmation. He loved going from store to store being able to trade and always hoping to get that special one he needed for his collection. Even though I am not a big fan of vinylmations I do enjoy helping him find just what he’s looking for!
As for my now 2 year old son, he likes to collect Disney stuffed animals. The funny thing is if it is not Disney he has no interest in it. I think we may be creating a Disney fanatic!!
This Christmas we recently received several Jim Shores Disney collectibles and even though our collection is small I am pretty sure it will continue to grow over the years.
So there you have it, just some of our many wonderful Disney items filling up our house with magical memories. By the way, my own, personal collection describes my lovely Diva name!
I’m going to WDW for my honeymoon this September! And yes, we WILL be wearing Bride and Groom Ears!
I am, however, saddened (and I’m being nice when I say that) that they’ve discontinued the “Just Married” buttons in favor of the politically correct “happily ever after” buttons 🙁
However…I hope my future wife and I get as much spoiling as you did on your honeymoon!
That is a shame they will no longer have the Just Married buttons. At first I didn’t want to wear them but after all the fuss cast members made over us it turned out to be a lot of fun! Enjoy your honeymoon, I know it will be magical!!
I am also Disneymooning this October. We found the Just Married pins on e-bay. Try there or Amazon. I on the other hand am disappointed that they d/c the mickey top hats.
