Disney Signature Dining is a big deal for us. Paying premium prices and getting all dressed up gives us high expectations. Those high expectations run from the atmosphere and service, to the food and decor. Read my post Tips to avoid eaters remorse, to learn how we decided on Narcoossee’s.
The special night finally arrived and we got all dolled up! We were staying at the Polynesian Villas and Bungalow’s so we decided to take the walkway between The Polynesian and The Grand Floridan grounds to Narcoossee’s.
Diva Tip: The walkway goes from The Grand Floridian all the way to the Ticket and Transportation Center. If you are heading to EPCOT you may want to consider walking over to Ticket and Transportation Center and pick up the monorail to EPCOT there.
Separate from The Grand Floridian, Narcoossee’s has its own entrance. Allowing you to meander through the lush resort setting. If you are unfamiliar with the Grand Floridian head toward the boat dock and you can’t miss it! We checked in upon arrival and reminded the cast member were on our Disneymoon – celebrating our one week anniversary. We also shared our preference for a table near the water.
The restaurant is in a circular building and the seating area follows a bull’s eye pattern. Each ring of tables rises a level similar to theater seating as you work towards the center. Upon my first survey I was pleased with the decor and lighting. The noise volume was acceptable. I will be honest, we were surprised by two things. The first was the number of children especially for a late reservation. However, we are in Disney and everyone seemed well-behaved so we were not too concerned. The second was the number of t-shirts, football jerseys and the like we saw. This was disappointing. We had carefully read and understood the dress code. It was one of the draws to help make the evening feel special.
Diva Tip: Many signature restaurants have dress codes. Check the restaurant information on the Walt Disney World website to understand the dress code and avoid feeling .
Within about ten minutes of our reservation the maître D’ sat us at table overlooking the water as requested. We liked that it was an end table too. Cutting down the number of other parties surrounding us. He congratulated us on our wedding, gave us menus let us know who our waiter would be. We asked Jeff what his recommendations were and he shared his favorites. Not just the item but also how he prefers it prepared. You could tell his suggestions were authentic and not regurgitating the popular items Narcoossee’s may be known for.
Diva Tip: Talking to cast members is invaluable. They offer genuine suggestions and insider tips. Often revealing better options!
Our Waiter arrived shortly thereafter and we reviewed our Dining Plan options. Signature Dining is two table service credits per person. At the end of our trip and living it up all week we only had two table service credits left. He assured us that was not a problem and would easily be able to split the bill between the dining credits and cash. I’ll jump ahead a bit and share that it really was as easy as he said it would be. He applied the more expensive qualifying items to the dining plan and we paid the balance.
Diva Tip: We find it helpful to chart out our table and quick service dining credits while we making our park plans. This helps you know in advance if you need to change your selections or budget accordingly.
Now on to the deliciousness that was our meal. We were well accustomed to the menu options. We had been drooling over the menu for months. We started off our meal by sharing the Maine Lobster Bisque. We are both lobster fans and wanted to try this. Sharing the started gave us enough to enjoy without filling up. I ordered the Grilled Grass Fed Filet Mignon as our maître D’ suggested. It came creamy mashed potatoes, roasted veggies and a nice reduction. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Tender and delicious as were the sides. I was so pleased I went with the recommendation. My husband went with the Butter-poached Twin Maine Lobster Tails. This was served with malted-popcorn sauce, corn soufflé, and asparagus. WOW! I had a little bite of each as was blown away with how flavorful it was. Melt in your mouth lobster. My husband said it was great — that means out of this world to everyone else! At the recommendation of our waiter we ordered the Almond-Crusted Cheesecake. I enjoy cheesecake but I find it tends to all be the same. No at narcoossee’s! What makes it’s crustless with a light texture and literally encrusted in toasted shaved almonds. They added a chocolate congratulatory decoration making it all the more special. Diva Tip: Sharing items or ordering off the child menu are great ways to save money and keep your diet in check!
We left feeling so special and completely fulfilling our mission to celebrate our one week wedding anniversary. Topping the evening off — only the way Disney Magic can — just as we were arriving back to the Polynesian the Magic Kingdom nighttime fireworks started.
