Disney and Feld Entertainment did it again!

My first experience with Disney on Ice as an adult was “Disney on Ice presents Frozen” last February, and I was AMAZED. It was such a wonderful show. My excitement only grew for “Disney on Ice presents Passport to Adventure“. I was excited that my kids would get to experience so many of their favorite characters from Frozen, Peter Pan, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and of course Mickey and his pals. I was very apprehensive, however, about seeing the show at the new Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento. I loved the easy access and parking at the old Arco Arena. The fears crept into my head…parking, access to the arena, safety….Well, the first fear was alleviated almost immediately. If you go to Sacpark.org, you can easily reserve a parking spot in one of many parking garages around the arena. The prices ranged from $9.00-$25.00, with an average walking distance between 0.1 and 0.6 miles. You can also take the Light Rail, Uber, or a taxi. Still unsure of all the factors involved, I chose the Sacramento Kings parking structure. This was the most expensive option at $25.00, but it was also the closest to the arena. With a 2 and 4 year old (and no stroller) I felt that was my best bet. It is also monitored by security and Sacramento Police Officers, so I felt a little safer walking back to my car after the show.

I had a 45 minute commute to Sacramento, and the traffic was average. We arrived at the show an hour early and had no problem with traffic or parking. The Premium West lot was a good choice, and it is only about a block and a half from the Golden 1 Center. Once we arrived, we were greeted by some of the friendliest staff I have encountered in quite some time. They were all very pleasant and courteous.

Disney Diva Tip: Make sure you bring some extra cash for the popcorn, snow cones, and souvenirs. We opted to bring our own Dollar Tree glowsticks, but sprung for the snow cones. I appreciated there was a range of $10, $12, and $15 dollar snow cones, depending on the cup. The $10 Flounder cup worked great for my kiddos.

The show itself was incredible! I don’t want to give too much away because you can’t truly describe such an amazing performance and it really is best seen in person, but I did want to give you a brief overview. It opened with a fantastic scene from “It’s A Small World” and then we were greeted by Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy. You get to take an around the world adventure traveling to the African savannah (The Lion King), London (Peter Pan), the ocean (The Little Mermaid), and to Arendelle (Frozen). The performers did a great job of getting the crowd involved, and I loved watching my kids clap along and sing the songs. The whole audience was really getting into the performances. My son’s favorite part of the night was “the biggest crocodile in the whole world,” which was a giant blow up crocodile brought out in Peter Pan. My daughter loved Anna and Elsa, of course.

I was really happy to see Disney intertwine the classics into the show, and well as highlight the current favorites. The special effects and props did not disappoint, with a giant pirate ship, the Darling children’s bedroom (and yes flying!), snow, and bubbles to name a few.

This show is well worth seeing! And don’t let the new Golden 1 Center being downtown deter you. Make sure to reserve your parking through Sacpark, and in a short easy walk- In less than two blocks you are there. We exited on J street, and were on the freeway immediately. No long lines or waits to get out.
