Club 626 Dance Party Article and Pictures by Florida Diva
Near the base of the Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland there is a giant stage where a DJ belts out the newest and loudest top 40 songs. While you would think that this would attract a lot of attention on its own, what caught my eye was Goofy bustin’ moves with the crowd. As we cruised by on The People Mover, I knew where my next stop would be.
By the time we got down to where the party was, the DJ was showing everyone the moves to The Cha-Cha Slide and Goofy was gone, but Chip n’ Dale were there, along with Stitch himself!Soon they were leading everyone in a Conga line as the DJ returned to the stage to que up the next hit song.
Not only is this a great way to rejuvenate your inner child, but it’s the best opportunity, hands down, to mingle with some of the Disney characters. Where else can you dance around, holding hands with Goofy and then line up behind Stitch to do the Conga?
This attraction reminds me of the old days at Disney when the characters used to roam the parks and you would simply bump into them as you explored the grounds. They would always take a few moments to interact with families and pose for pictures, and I always felt some of the magic was lost when they began having you line up to get a quick picture and autograph instead. But 626 has brought back some of that cherished interaction and put some fun back into hanging out with some of our favorite residents. So take a few minutes to let loose at the dance party and enjoy becoming part of the
show!
Diva tips: The party starts in the early evening and goes for a couple of hours. There are varying reports that this attraction is only seasonal or only takes place on busier days, but its always worth a stop to see if the party has started.
Suitable for all ages and wheelchair accessible.
We went to Disney in May and this was my favorite part of the whole trip! It was dark and we had our glow sticks. I’ll always remember it!
Our trips are usually in February, and it was a great diversion. I took my nephew to watch the electrical parade in the evening, and to kill some time we rode the Orbiter. We caught a portion of this show as the ride was winding down, so I thought since it was kind of a long day it would be a great way to get the juices flowing. My nephew, who was 14 years old at the time and too cool for such nonsense, eventually loosened up after watching his less than cool 44 year old uncle shimmy & shake to Chip n Dale’s antics on stage. Events like this bring the young and not so young together, I enjoyed it immensely, and look forward to embarrassing relations for years to come…
