Magic Kingdom offers several quick service options throughout the park, but for a truly out-of-this-world experience, you must try Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, located in Tomorrowland. At first glance, this restaurant may seem a bit lackluster, but several special features make it a unique dining option. Here are 4 reasons you must try Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café the next time you visit Magic Kingdom.
1. The food! Cosmic Ray’s offers a little bit of everything, so everyone in your traveling party is likely to find a meal pleasing to specific tastes. There are three bays offering different selections of American cuisine. Be sure to check each bay to see all the menu offerings before making a decision. Lunch includes options like Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Angus Bacon Cheeseburgers, Chili Dogs, Barbequed Pork Sandwiches, Vegetable Burgers, Greek Salads, Chicken Nuggets, and Rotisserie Chicken. The dinner menu reflects the same options as lunch, but also includes a Chicken and Rib Combo, with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. This meal is larger than lunch options and can possibly be shared. In addition to the typical sides offered at quick service restaurants throughout Walt Disney World, Cosmic Ray’s includes options like Chili Cheese Fries, Chicken Noodle Soup, and Greek Yogurt. A large toppings bar allows you to customize your meal. Desserts include Triple-Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Gelato and No Sugar Added Mango Gelato.
2.The view! It will be quite difficult to find a more perfect view while enjoying a quick service meal at Magic Kingdom. If you walk to the seating section of Cosmic Ray’s nearest to the main entrance to Tomorrowland from the hub, you will find a fabulous view of Cinderella’s Castle. There are not a lot of tables in the area that offer a perfect view, so if you see one available, grab it and take turns ordering food. We love to have our meal while gazing at the castle and watching the ducks splash in the water around it. We prefer the indoor seating for the air conditioning, but there are tables in the outdoor seating area that offer great castle views as well. Cosmic Ray’s also offers views of Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Main Street USA, as well as the hub area around the castle, but nothing tops the view of Cinderella’s Castle!
3. The entertainment! Only at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café will you find the alien audio-animatronic, Sonny Eclipse, who plays several sets a day on his astro organ. Our family will often enjoy our meal with a view of Cinderella’s Castle and then have dessert in the main dining room where Sonny Eclipse plays. My children love watching him, and it is impossible to keep them from dancing while watching Sonny Eclipse perform. The main dining room can be rather noisy during the songs, so if you are looking for a quiet meal, this isn’t the spot for you.
4. The size! Cosmic Ray’s is a large, quick service restaurant. Each bay contains several ordering lines which allow a large number of people to move through the lines and receive food quickly. Seating is plentiful both indoors and directly outside of the restaurant, so it is unlikely you will have to wander around looking for a place to sit for your meal.
