On our last vacation to Walt Disney World, my family had the opportunity to stay at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower for the first time. I had longed to stay at this resort for a while, and was so thankful for the chance to experience it for myself! While there are many, many reasons I loved our stay at Bay Lake Tower, which I will cover, the number one perk of this resort is location, location, location!
As the closest resort to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Bay Lake Tower offers amazing amenities just steps away from the Magic Kingdom’s entrance. The convenience of walking out of the resort and being in the Magic Kingdom within a few minutes was perfection! If not taking the walking path to the park, you can simply walk over the short Sky Way Bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and hop on the monorail. Buses are also available for travel to other parks and Disney Springs. While Bay Lake Tower does not offer any onsite table service dining options, the very close proximity to the Contemporary Resort means being conveniently close to great dining opportunities at Chef Mickey’s, Steakhouse 71 and California Grill. And again, a short monorail or boat ride provides access to the monorail resorts of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness.
If location isn’t enough to convince you to try a stay at Bay Lake Tower, then the amenities offered at the resort are sure to be appealing. Rooms are available that face Magic Kingdom (offering amazing views of the fireworks at Cinderella Castle) and on the opposite side of the resort facing Bay Lake. The Bay Cove Pool offers a 20-foot-tall waterslide. There is also a whirlpool, courtyard game area and a poolside bar offering a limited menu. There is an area that kids may enjoy splashing in bubbling water bursts. Inside Bay Lake Tower, guests will find a community center offering gaming, crafts, movies and more! This is a fun area, and my children loved spending time there. My son tried his hand at making some crafts, but mostly enjoyed resting from the parks and playing video games, while my daughter was content coloring (one of her favorite things to do). Again, the proximity to the Contemporary opened up another plethora of convenient options including the watersports offered on Bay Lake.
Our room was spacious. We were in a studio villa facing Bay Lake. Our balcony overlooked the lake, which was great at night when we could sit outside and watch the Electrical Water Pageant pass by! We also just enjoyed resting and watching the monorail as it entered the Contemporary Resort. Those whose rooms face Magic Kingdom can enjoy an up-close viewing of the nightly Happily Ever After fireworks show.
The overall feeling at Bay Lake Tower was just a pleasant one. And one of my favorite things about this resort was the smell! Yes, the smell! The lobby smells absolutely fabulous. I would love to bottle it up and bring it home! The cast members in the lobby were especially kind and helpful, and though perhaps a strange observation, the elevators seemed to run efficiently. We never had to wait long at all for an elevator, which I found surprising with the resort full of guests, and the use of elevators required to access the Sky Way Bridge.
Our stay at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower was one of the best experiences we have had at Walt Disney World. Our room was superb, the resort and cast members were amazing, and the location can not be topped. We will definitely look to stay at Bay Lake Tower in the future.
