Well, Disney has done it again! Military Discounts for 2018 have been announced today!
Disney’s Armed Forces Salute Discount program offers active and retired members of the U.S. military as well as members of the Reserves, Guard, Coast Guard, PHS and NOAA, 100% service related disabled veterans and a few others a huge discount on both tickets and rooms for Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
If you are eligible, you certainly want to take advantage of this offer.
Disney’s Armed Forces Salute Tickets
For calendar year 2018, eligible guests have the ability to purchase six (6) Armed Forces Salute tickets. One ticket must be used by the eligible military member or spouse. The remaining five tickets can be used by any friend or family member traveling with them. Remember, you are eligible for (6) tickets for use in Disney World and (6) tickets for use in Disneyland during 2018.
*Tip: smaller families (or parents traveling alone!!) can purchase smaller quantities of tickets more than once during 2018, as long as they do not exceed (6) Disney World and (6) Disneyland tickets total during 2018.
Similar to the 2017 discount, military guests have the option of purchasing tickets for two different lengths of days. Disney World tickets can be purchased for four or five days of use; Disneyland tickets can be purchased for three of four days of use.
Disney World Armed Forces Salute Ticket Options and Pricing
- Four Day Park Hopper-$226
- Four Day Park Hopper plus (Water Parks and More)-$266
- Five Day Park Hopper-$246
- Five Day Park Hopper plus (Water Parks and More)-$286
Disneyland Armed Forces Salute Ticket Options and Pricing
- Three Day Park Hopper-$168,
- Four Day Park Hopper-$188
All tickets can be purchased from your local MWR, Shades of Green, and Disney Parks. Please note that tickets purchased directly from Disney will have tax added to the above amounts; MWR and Shades of Green tickets are tax free.
Also important to note, all tickets can be linked to your “mydisneyexperience”. However, tickets purchased from MWR and Disney will require proof of service (military ID) and activation at the park’s customer service desk. Tickets purchased from Shades of Green will be activated at the Shades of Green ticket counter (or prior to shipping), saving you time at the park.
And finally, Disney World tickets can be purchased now through December 15, 2018 for use January 1, 2018 through December 19, 2018. Disneyland tickets can be purchased from November 1, 2017 through December 16, 2018 for use January 1, 2018 through March 22, 2018 and April 9, 2018 through December 19, 2018.
*Again, Disneyland tickets have a blackout period from March 23 through April 8, 2018.
Disney’s Armed Forces Salute Room Discounts
Again, Disney has been very generous in offering military guests an amazing discount. The room discount, unlike the ticket discount, can be used repeatedly.

Specially Priced Disney World Memory Maker and Disneyland Photo Pass Collection
In addition the amazing ticket and room offers, Military guests also have the option to purchase discounted photo pass photos from their trip!

Does Disney provide military discounts for events? Specifically for the Run Disney events?
Good afternoon Scott and thank you for contacting “Tips from the Disney Divas”. Disney does offer military discounts for events such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Unfortunately they do not currently offer discounts for runDisney events. If you have enough friends or family to support you, you may want to look into a sponsored fundraiser to cover your runDisney race. Specifically, Homes for Our Troops is involved with runDisney and has a very generous fundraising goal for those interested in joining their team. All participating organizations can be located on the runDisney page. You would navigate to your chosen event, click registration then charity groups. Good luck in your endeavor! *Military Diva*
Are veterans eligible for the military discount
Good evening and thank you for your question. The following is the eligibility statement from Disney World…”Eligible Service Members are active or retired members of the U.S. Military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Spouses of Military Service Members also qualify if they are able to present valid and active U.S. Military IDs in the absence of active or retired Military Personnel or Commissioned Corps Members.” You or your veteran must have a retired ID card to be eligible.
It looks like 100% permanent and total disabled veterans like myself no longer qualify.
Figures.
Good afternoon Andrew. All of my sources state that 100% disabled and retired veteran’s do qualify for Disney’s Armed Forces Salute. The wording in Disney’s description may be confusing-it excluded 100% service disabled veterans. But 100% service disabled veterans are considered retired and would have the correct identification, if I remember correctly.
If you have different information related to eligibility I would love to hear the details and be able to research the source. Thank you! Military Diva
Hello,
That is not true. My father is a 100% disabled Vet and we just used his military discount for tickets and to stay at at Shades of Green. I just got back 3 days ago. We have used it twice a year for the past 3 years.
Thank you. You are correct, 100% disabled and retired are eligible for Shades of Green and Disney’s Armed Forces Salute. The confusion and frustration for many is that less than 100% disabled and non-retired veteran’s are not eligible.
My Husband is currently deployed in the Middle East and we want to plan a Disney trip for when he returns March 19th 2018. I’m not sure where to get started but would love to find a package to include room & park tickets. We will be driving down so no airfare will be needed. Any help you can provide to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Good evening Amy. I am very happy to hear that your husband will be returning soon. Holidays are always difficult when a loved one is gone and I cringe every time I think about our family’s time apart. I hope you are surrounded by loved ones that are able to offer their support. As for your planning questions, I have sent you an email reply. Please check your inbox and your junk folder for an email from All4dreams@gatewaytomagictravel.com. Thank you!
Does Disney have a military discount for Disneyland Paris?
Good evening Amy and thank you for contacting Tips from the Disney Divas. I know that in the past military guests with valid id were able to receive 50% off two and three day tickets at the gate. I am not finding any information leading me to believe this is still available. Your best bet would be to call Disneyland Paris directly at +33 1 60 30 60 53. I apologize for not being able to offer more help.
Good morning Penney. You do not have to use your tickets on the same days as your guests. You have until midnight on December 19, 2017 to use any days you have remaining.
Thank you for contacting Tips from the Disney Divas! *Military Diva
My husband is active duty in the Navy and we are going to be going to Disneyland in February (2018) and I was wondering if we are able to get a discount off the regular ticket price for just a one day ticket as opposed to the 3 or 4 day park hopper tickets I saw listed above.
Good morning and thank you for contacting Tips from the Disney Diva! You and your husband are typically able to purchase one day Disneyland discount tickets from your local military base. They are not sold on Disneyland property. Here in OH the adult tickets offered are $95 for a one day base ticket, $153 for a 1 day hopper. You can pick them up from the local MWR ticketing office; for a fee, many bases will also ship the tickets. Please check with your local base for correct pricing and availability. Thank you and have a Merry Christmas and wonderful Holiday Season! *Military Diva
Can I purchase tickets for friends to use even when I’m not present?
Good morning Bryan. Officially, Disney would prefer that only eligible service member’s and their friends/family traveling with them use the Military discounts. If you purchase your tickets on base or at a Disney ticket booth the active military member MUST be present to activate the tickets. Once activated, the guests can enter any of the parks on their own. There is one loophole to this procedure-when tickets are purchased at Shades of Green, the tickets are already activated and ready to use. Service members can purchase these tickets on site or you can email the ticket purchase form and credit card authorization form and have tickets shipped directly to their homes. Again these tickets are already activated and ready for use. I don’t often promote this method of delivery and caution you if giving these tickets to friends. I would hate to see Disney discontinue this discount because too many guests are giving their tickets away to those that are not technically eligible. Too many service members rely on these discounts. Thank you!
Can you tell me if I qualify for discount tickets if I’m disabled veteran with 60% disability from VA. Like to take my grandson for his high school graduation to Disney World. We live in Washington state so tickets for two teenagers and 3 adults with airlines is pretty spending
Good morning Lee. I am sorry, but disabled veteran’s must have 100% rating to qualify for the discount tickets. Wile the travel dates may not be ideal, you are eligible to stay at Shades of Green (DoD/MWR resort on Disney property) during the months of September and January for $155/night. You would also be eligible for their Stars and Stripes tickets, which are slightly discounted below the Disney World gate prices. Please let me know if you are interested in more information our would like a quote. Disney is offering several summer discounts that may help make your trip more affordable.
*Military Diva, owner All for Dreams Travel*
I may be interested in a quote. I am a 20% disabled veteran and I am looking to visit Disney in October. Could I possibly stay at Shades of Green? Also, I would like to find out the discount (if there is one for me) to do the Hopper tickets (1 park per day) for 2 days. 3 adults and 2 children.
Good afternoon Chad. Please forgive my delay…our family has been enjoying our own vacation. As a 20% disabled veteran you would be eligible to stay at Shades of Green during the months of January and September. Unfortunately though, the Armed Forces Salute hopper tickets would not apply. Veteran’s must be 100% service disabled to qualify for the Armed Forces Salute. I have sent you a separate email from All4dreams@gatewaytomagictravel.com
Hello, I was reading your answer for this question and this was my question as well. Could you please send me information about these dates and discounts please? Shanna shannadtaylor@gmail.com
Hi Shanna! I just sent you an email from all4dreamsgatewaytomagictravel.com. If you don’t see it, please check your junk folder. Thank you!
Patricia Payne, Military Diva
I have an annual pass at Disneyland but wanted to by a 3 day park hopper for my mom. Would I be able to just buy the one ticket for her? Or would I have to buy each of us a ticket?
Good morning Lacey. You can purchase a single hopper pass for your Mom without purchasing one for yourself. You will need to be present(with ID) to activate.
The regulation set by the DoD is that one of the six tickets must be used by the service member, meaning it cannot be used by anyone else. You are not required to purchase just to use the other 5 tickets. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy your time with your Mom!
*Military Diva
I have a friend who can help me get a military discount.if he buys them thru shades of green and its already activated disney will not ask for the military person to be present.
Good morning Dee. While many guests say this will work, I have also heard of guests being asked for ID at some point during their trip. While it is tempting to utilize this discount for non-Military members, that is not the intent of the program. The Disney Travel Company chooses to offer the discount, but the eligibility of the program is set by the Department of Defense. If Disney feels that the program is being taken advantage of, they have to option to end it at any time. I would not want to be one of the individuals that was partially responsible for taking Disney vacations out of the hands of our Military families. T
Hello,
This may seem like a dumb question, but do you know of any military discounts for Disney on ice?
Good evening Rodney! From what I can find, military discounts for shows like Disney on Ice vary by city. Your local MWR/IT Ticketing base office may offer tickets at a discounted rate. You can also have your military credentials verified, enabling you to purchase Military discounted tickets directly, at http://www.govx.com. Here is a list of cities currently offering Disney on Ice military discounts via govx…https://tickets.govx.com/ticket/disney-on-ice-frozen/e/214246 Good luck! Hope you get to enjoy the show.
Hi…my name’s Patricia and I ‘d like to know if flight attendants are eligible for military’s discount to visit Disney’s Parks
I work for Latam Airlines
Thanks
Good afternoon Patricia. Disney’s Military discount is only available to those with specific government id cards-active duty military, 100% retired military, active military foreign affiliate, 100% retired reserve/national guard, 100% disabled military, medal of honor recipients, military active service personnel and spouses of the above mentioned categories.
We are getting ready to go in April. We don’t need a 4- day hopper since physically I can’t do all those days, but is there a way to get individual days (2) any cheaper that it would make sense? If not, are we allowed to pass the remainder of the hopper tickets on to someone else? Thanks
Good evening Trista. It is possible to purchase a 2 day base tickets. Disney World 2 day base tickets are currently $209. The 4 day Armed Forces Salute tickets are $246. All Disney World tickets are non-transferable. When you first use the tickets you will be required to place your finger on the print scanner. Your print is matched to your ticket. Feel free to contact All for Dreams Travel (all4dreams@gatewaytomagictravel.com) if you would like assistance purchasing tickets.
My husband is in the military and we are planning to surprise our son for his 10th birthday with a trio to Disneyland. His birthday is on new years day and we were hoping to get a military discount to take him on his actual birthday. Is there a way to do this in 2019? When does next year’s pricing become available? Please advise. Thank you.
Good morning Renee. Historically the Disney Travel Company and Disney Cruise Line release new Armed Forces Salute in the fall, typically in September or October. We will post on our page and social media accounts as soon as we receive official word from Disney. Please keep watching!
I am a surviving spouse of a veteran that was 100% disabled. Do I qualify for discounts at Disney?
Good morning Carrie. First of all, I thank both you and your husband for your sacrifices. If your spouse was 100% disabled with a DAVPRM note on his id and you still have a (tan) eligible dependent ID I think you would be eligible for both Disney and Shades of Green discounts. I cannot make any promises though. I recommend you call Shades of Green to verify your eligibilit. They are better equipped to understand the DoD eligibility requirements and types of ID-Disney phone cast members don’t often know the differences. Shades of Green will be able to give you the most accurate information. The best phone number to call would be (470)824-1403. Thank you again for your family’s service and for contacting the Disney Divas. Please let us know if we can assist you with anything else. *Military Diva
Good morning Wayne. Unfortunately, the Department of Defense sets the eligibility requirements that both Disney and their MWR resorts must follow. According to their regulations, current military, retired (20 + years), 100 % disabled with DAVPRM on their ID, and spouses with active ID’s are eligible for Armed Forces Salute offer. Veteran’s are not eligible for the Disney AFS offer.
Veteran’s are eligible to stay at Shades of Green on Walt Disney World during the months of January and September at the Category 3 rate. One advantage- guests that are eligible to stay at Shades and staying there or at a WDW resort, can purchase Stars and Stripes length of stay tickets directly from the SOG ticketing office. While not as great of a discount as the AFS, they are still discounted and include hoppers and water passes.
I am sorry but I am pretty sure that the Department of Defense can not tell Disney who they can give discounts to and for how much. I believe Disney has chosen to exclude a large percentage of those that have served because they did not serve long enough or were not hurt bad enough for Disney.
Does Disney apply the same standard’s to their military friendly hiring standards? Do you have to be 100% disabled to be considered a disabled veteran owned company in Disney’s supply chain?
Either support veterans or don’t. Do say your veteran friendly and then exclude 90% of the veterans.
Good afternoon Sean. I have spoken directly with the Disney Travel Company and they have confirmed what I wrote. The Disney Travel Company chooses to offer a military discount and sets the pricing. The Department of Defense determines who is eligible. I understand your frustration over who has been chosen. Please know that “Tips from the Disney Divas” is not part of the Disney Travel Company. We are a fan site that offers tips for successful vacations. If you have a complaint please send it directly to the Disney Travel Company. Have a great day!
My husband is 100% disabled service connected Veteran. Due to his disability does Disney offer motorized scooter to allow him to enjoy the park with our grandchildren?. Thank You
Good morning Debbie. Disney does not provide complimentary scooters for guests. However, they can be rented in the parks (for use in the parks only) or can be rented from a private company like Apple Scooters or Amusement Park Rentals. The private rentals will be available for the duration of the vacation. Please contact all4dreamstravel@gatewaytomagictravel if you need help with obtaining a rental.
I bought tickets for my friend who will be meeting my brother (active military) at Disney. Will he be able to activate the tickets for them?
Good morning Dan. It would be best for your brother to purchase and activate the tickets. I do not know if vouchers are linked to your name after purchase or not and would not want to risk losing the money for the AFS ticket and having to purchase a new ticket onsite.
I am wondering if I can purchase 6-disneyland 3 day park hoppers and 6-disneyland 4 day park hoppers?
Good morning Kelly. Members of the Military are only allowed (6) Armed Forces Salute tickets per destination per year. The options or number of days to not change the (6)ticket limit. Wish I could offer better news. *Military Diva
Hello, We will be purchasing the max quantity allowed of six Military Salute 5 day park hopper- no waterpark tickets. We will be needing 2 additional 5 day park hopper tickets-no water park (non Salute). Can the additional non-Salute tickets be purchased at Shades of Green? If so, are the tickets discounted? What is the price? Thank you!
Good afternoon Maria. You can definitely purchase additional discounted tickets from Shades of Green. It is a small discount, but better than full cost! You can even purchase the tickets in advance and pay to have them shipped to you. This will allow you to link them to your “myDisneyexperience” account for Fast Pass scheduling. The information can be found here-https://www.shadesofgreen.org/experiences/tours
Are there anytime doing the year that Veterans are able to take advantage of military discounted tickets. It’s always been puzzling how non-military personnel can take advantage and has never served. I served for 6 years, by choice, and now work in the federal government for NASA and cant take advantage of the great discounts.
Good morning Denise and thank you for the question/comment. Eligibility for Disney’s Armed Forces discount has been set by the Department of Defense. While guests must be active military (full time, guard or reserve), fully retired or 100% service disabled to qualify, Shades of Green on Walt Disney World offers seasonal discounts to all who have served. Veteran’s can typically stay at SOG in January and September for a great rate! It is a deluxe resort at value prices. In addition, many offers include a breakfast buffet. Guests of SOG can also purchase discounted length-of-stay tickets. While not as great of a discount as the Armed Forces Salute, it is still a good savings over full rates. Have a great day! *Military Diva
If we purchase a 4 day hopper pass and can’t use them all during the same trip, will we be able to use the remaining tickets at a future date?
Good afternoon Leslie. Unused tickets can definitely be used at a later date. They must be used by the expiration date of December 19, 2018.
Hi!
I am trying to plan a very first (surprise) trip for my S/O to Disneyland!
However we are engaged and so I do not have the ability to purchase the tickets. My friend has offered so as to not ruin the surprise, but I am worried that we may still not be able to use them. from my understanding for military salute tickets, they print the name of the sponsor/purchaser on the ticket and that person must accompany you to activate the tickets. We would have a valid active duty id, but it just wouldn’t match.
I am thinking the only option may be have her purchase the lesser discounted tickets that do not have exclusions because I have been told that those do not have a sponsor name printed.
Your thoughts and advice would be appreciated!
Thank you 🙂
Good afternoon Marina. If I am understanding correctly your guest is active military, but you are trying to surprise them with the trip? My advice would be to purchase/plan all other aspects of the trip and set aside the ticket money. Be sure your guest travels with their id and purchase tickets at the gate. It may seem like less of a surprise, but as long as you are still paying for the tickets I think the savings would be worth the extra effort!
Hi There,
I just want to clarify that once my husband gets the tickets on base they are already activated? Do we get a wristband once we have the tickets? Just want to make sure I understand everything before we get the tickets.
Thanks so much!!!
Good afternoon Danielle. I am happy to clear the confusion for you. If purchased from base, you will receive vouchers that are not activated. The vouchers can be linked to your ‘myDisneyexperience” account to help you make Fast Pass selections at the 30 or 60 day mark, depending on where you are staying. Once you arrive to Disney World you will need to stop at Guest Services prior to entering the parks to officially activate the tickets. Depending on the crowds, there may be a lengthy wait.
Now, if you don’t mind paying the $10 shipping cost, Shades of Green will mail you actual tickets. You link them to your “myDisneyexperience” account as well, but upon entering the park you can walk right in!
https://www.shadesofgreen.org/experiences/tours
Now, magic bands are a different story. If you are staying on a Disney Property you will receive your magic bands 3-4 weeks prior to travel. Any resort reservation, tickets, dining, or fast passes in your “mydisneyexperience” account will be available through your bands. If staying off site or at Shades of Green you will need to purchase your own magic bands and link them prior to traveling to have them work when arriving. If you don’t want bands you can use your hard tickets in their place and in the same way. I hope this information helps a bit. If you have any further questions feel free to email me at all4dreamstravel@gatewaytomagictravel. *Military Diva and owner of All for Dreams Travel
Good morning Danielle. Tickets purchased on base are not activated. You will receive a voucher with a number that can be linked to your “myDisneyexperience” account to enable you to complete Fast Passes. But once you arrive at Disney World you will need to visit guest services to activate these tickets. You will only receive complimentary Magic Bands if you will be staying on site in a Disney World Resort (Shades of Green is located onsite, but is not a Disney Resort). There is a way to order tickets from Shades of Green that are already activated. If you would like additional help, please contact all4dreams@gatewaytomagictravel.com I am the owner as well as “Military Diva”. I am well accustomed to the Armed Forces salute discounts. My fees are paid by the Disney Travel Company, but I am always happy to offer private consulting to Military families, even when booking with Shades of Green. The Armed Forces Salute can certainly be a tricky road to maneuver and I am happy to see a fellow Military family enjoy a stress free vacation.
sorry but you must get this question a lot so,
Is there any discounts for veterans with 70% PTSD. I know that you have to be 100% for the discounts but is there anything for veterans?
Good afternoon Xavier. Veteran’s are eligible to stay at Shades of Green on Walt Disney World, with discounted tickets, during January and September. I am not aware of Veteran discounts for any other Disney property unfortunately. Thank you for your service!
Thank you for treating veterans like myself like crap, 2 tours of Iraq servered 4 years in tge marine Corp and I’m not eligible for a discount. That makes me feel awesome.
Thank you so much for your service and for your comment. While you may not be eligible for the Armed Forces Salute, as a Veteran you are eligible to stay at Shades of Green during the months of January and September. You would also be eligible to purchase discounted tickets from their ticketing center. Please contact me if you would like more details.
* Please know that “Tips from the Disney Diva” is a fan site and is not affiliated with the Disney Travel Company. That being said, the Disney Military discount eligibility is set by the Department of Defense, not by Disney.
Hello Cynthia. If your service was in support of US military operations you would be eligible.
Hi!
When, typically, are the “Salute”discounts announced by Disney?
We anticipate taking a trip to Disneyland in January of 2019. Realizing that certain accommodations may be limited, we wish to plan ahead and book when it becomes available.
I’m 100% T&P.
Thank You!
Tom
Good morning Thomas! We anticipate the discounts to be announced in September or October. I will contact you as soon as I have information. (Please refer to the email I previously sent for Disneyland Hotel rooms that are typically included in the discount). Thank you! Patricia Payne, aka Military Diva (All for Dreams Travel)
Hello,
Our family is bigger than the six (6) allowed tickets. If more than six tickets are purchased will there be any trouble getting into Disneyland. The tickets were purchased at base with each persons name already printed on them will my one military ID allow ten people with military purchased tickets to entire.
Hello Kimberly. I have been told that Disney would allow families with more than six immediate family members to utilize the discounted military tickets. Again, this is for military member, their spouse and immediate children only (not grandparents, cousins, etc). I am also assuming that you will be fine since the base sold you that amount of tickets. However, I would advise you to make a call to Disneyland prior to travel to be sure. I would also take your receipt with you.
Good luck! *Military Diva
Hello,
My husband is a retired US Army veteran. We are traveling to Florida over Christmas 2018 and would like to utilize the military discount to take our family to Disney World. Am I understanding that you cannot get the discounted tickets for that week? We would like to take them on December 28 – Jan 1. Thank you!
Hello NIcole. Your information is correct. Disney’s Armed Forces Salute tickets for 2018 expire on December 19. If staying onsite or at Shades of Green you can purchase length of stay tickets from SOG for a smaller discount (Stars & Stripes tickets).
On a side note, I completely understand if a Christmas visit is priority for you. However, please know that Christmas week is the busiest time of the year at Disney World. The parks often close to admission by 9 or 10 in the morning due to full capacity. Our family went ONCE! We literally got stuck in the Castle hub from 4pm until almost midnight. One of us could carry a child out, but there was no moving our stroller. It was the most miserable trip we have ever taken.
Please let me know if I can help in any other way!
*Military Diva, owner of All for Dreams Travel
Are there any discounts for an annual pass for 100% disabled vet?
Terri, I am not aware of any annual pass discounts for 100% disabled vets. The only way I know of to save money on an annual pass would be to purchase discounted Disney gift cards to make the purchase. You can purchase the gift cards at Target (with a red card) for a 5% discount or purchase at a local grocery/fuel store for fuel perks savings.
Thank you for the question! *Military Diva
I appreciate, very much, any information and updates regarding the Disney “Salute” Program. However, the bulletin addresses the 2018 time period.
Is there any announcement for 2019 yet?
Thank you
Tom
Good morning Mr. Helm. No updates for 2019 travel dates just yet. The announcement has typically been announced in late September or early October. Keep watching and we will update as soon as we hear any news! Military Diva
I’m just trying to clarify the qualifications for a military discount to Disneyland. My husband served 6 years in the California National Guard. He was honorably discharged. He is a veteran but not active or retired.
I don’t think he qualifies for a discount. Please verify.
Good afternoon Janice. Unfortunately he would not qualify for the Disneyland Armed Forces Salute Discount offer. Wish I had better news. *Military Diva
