Some people are not totally into the whole Halloween thing. Others absolutely love it. Well, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) in Walt Disney World at Magic Kingdom is fun for everyone! I guarantee the adults are more into it than the kids! It is so fun to dress up and see all of the kids so excited in their favorite costumes. Adults love dressing up too for this fun event. You can even try a themed Disney costume for the whole family, like Dressup Diva describes here. There is so much to do and see during the Halloween Party. Like the title of the party, it’s not that scary!
The Halloween party this year begins August 25, 2017 and concludes November 1st. You can check the Disney World page here for all the available party dates. Pricing runs from around $74-$115 for an adult depending on which day you choose and how close you are to Halloween. Children pricing starts at $69-$110. It only runs on select nights each week and you need to buy your separate ticket in advance to be guaranteed in the park the day you would like to attend. Since the party is located inside Magic Kingdom that does not mean you can use your park pass that day to enter the party. You will need to purchase a separate ticket exclusively for the party. Now, once purchasing your ticket this guarantees you admittance into Magic Kingdom and you DO NOT need to use a regular park pass on top of the party ticket. With having you party ticket Disney allows you to enter the park at 4pm even though the party starts at 7pm. This is a great courtesy which allows you to enjoy the park before the festivities begin. By getting into the park slightly earlier than the party, you will not need to use a Magic Kingdom park ticket and go earlier. I feel you should save the ticket and use it at another park. You are paying less for the party ticket and are still able to do so much inside Magic Kingdom by getting in before 7pm. Upon entering the park, a cast member will check you party ticket and put a wristband on your wrist for the event. They also give you a map of trick or treating spots along with bags. If you do not have a ticket for the party and you are inside the park, cast members will escort everyone out who is not wearing a party wristband. Once 7pm rolls around, the fun begins!
The park is beautifully decorated for Fall. With the beautiful decor, you truly feel like you are inside a fall fairy tale! You can walk around and see and do pretty much whatever you choose. The trick or treating inside the park begins at 7pm. You can check your map for all the spots and receive you candy! You will stand on line at many designated areas and be given candy. During this time, NO fast passes are available. Now, I went last year and my girls were nine months and four years of age. My four-year-old did not want to be bothered waiting in line for candy. All she wanted was to do a few of her favorite rides, including the Tea Cups! So, we decided to skip the trick or treating and hit the rides. This is a great idea, not just because it was mine at the time. Many people are going to want to experience all they can, especially if they are paying for a Halloween Party ticket. They are going to want candy, that’s one main point of Halloween, especially to children! If you have certain rides you really want to go on, skip the candy and hit those rides! The wait times are very short, if any at all. We headed to the Tea Cups, and we walked right on. Once my husband and daughter got off, there was still no wait and they walked right back onto the ride. We also did not have a long wait for Haunted Mansion which at the time surprised me since that ride screams Halloween. Around 8:45pm is usually when the Halloween parade begins. This parade is so cool!
My daughter went crazy over this parade! The parade is named “Boo to You”. The songs they played were so fun yet had a great Halloween twist to them. She stood on the curb on Main Street waving like crazy and so excited! All your favorite characters are part of this parade and dressed up for Halloween. They do a great fireworks display at the end of the parade. This is a great close to a wonderful party.
