Everyone has some type of bucket list. Perhaps a list of crazy, daring things you would like to try before you are too old, or a list of countries you want to visit before you die. I have a bucket list as well. My bucket list, however, doesn’t have anything to do with jumping from an airplane (trust me, that will NEVER happen unless said plane is already on a destructive path and I have no other options.) My bucket list is, of course, a Disney bucket list.
I’ve seen a lot of Disney bucket lists on the internet, and I agree with some of the items on the list, but I’ve also already accomplished some of the items, or have no desire to accomplish others. That means I had to come up with a bucket list of my own, full of things I have not yet accomplished, but definitely want to do. So, without further ado, let’s get this list started in no particular order of importance (because I want to do them ALL!)
- Stay at a Deluxe Disney Resort. We have stayed at value and moderate resorts, but to date, we have never stayed deluxe. We just haven’t been able to justify the price difference considering the fact that we are ONLY in our resorts to sleep and shower. Every other second is spent at the parks, so we really couldn’t take advantage of all that a deluxe has to offer. I would love to give it a try one day, though.
- Meet every Disney character at the parks. We love character meet and greets, and interacting with as many characters as we can. We also love rides and attractions, and refuse to stand in line longer than 20 minutes to meet a character. It would be great to meet every single one, wouldn’t it?
- Do the “Four Parks in One Day” challenge. This is just something we have never tried. We don’t like to waste a lot of time riding buses, park hopping. That could have been an hour or two that I could have ridden Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion. I would like to try this one day in the future though.
- Stay at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Oahu, Hawaii. I mean…come on! Disney in Hawaii? I’m pretty sure it can’t get better than that! But in the meantime, we can all live vicariously through Doctor Disney Devo’s review or Aulani Diva’s review.
- Visit every Disney Park in the world. Shocking, I know, but there are more parks than just Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. How cool would it be to visit the Disney parks in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris and now Shanghai, as well as both the parks here in the United States?
- Do a Disney cruise on each of Disney’s cruise ships. I’ve never done any cruises, but I’m pretty sure if I did one, it would HAVE to be a Disney cruise.
- Be an annual pass holder. This one seems simple enough, but as long as I have kids in school, and my husband works crazy hours, we really only have one week a year we can go right now. That’s not enough to warrant buying the annual pass. Maybe when the kids are in college…..
- Run in a RunDisney race. I’m not saying this one will ever happen, I actually HATE running, but…somehow the thought of a RunDisney race makes me eager to “race.” I use quotation marks because if I were to race, it would be kind of like watching a sloth move at its slowest rate, yet still have to stop and gasp for breath. If you are ready to sign up for your first race though, read our tips on runDisney for beginners!
- Reach the highest score in both Toy Story Midway Mania and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. I’ll be honest, I stink at these games. I’m kind of okay at Toy Story Midway Mania, but when it comes to Buzz, I can never seem to find my laser beam. I think I’m really killing it when I realize I’m not even looking at my laser beam, I’m really looking at someone else kill it.
- Collect every pressed penny at Walt Disney World. They switch these out often enough for me to know, this one probably won’t ever happen.
- Try Disneybounding. I’m not one for dressing up, but I think this would be great fun to try once.
- See the Dapper Dans. I’m not sure how we’ve managed to never see them, but honestly, we have NEVER spotted them in all of our trips. Of course, we are always on a mission to get to the next attraction, but still, you would think we would have seen them at least once.
- Visit the Disney water parks. Again, let me stress that we are only at Walt Disney World one week a year. We would love to go to the waterparks, but honestly, “ain’t nobody got time for that” when you are only there a week. There’s just way too much to do at the other four parks.
- Open Epcot. No, I don’t mean get there for rope drop. I mean, be picked as the family to actually open the park the way they do at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We have been extremely blessed enough and Pixie Dusted enough to open Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom (they actually did this one year) and Hollywood Studios. Something about me being slightly OCD means that not being able to open Epcot in the same way doesn’t sit right with me. Greedy of me? Yes, yes it is, but it still made it to my bucket list.
- Shoot hoops at the Matterhorn basketball court. I may stink at Toy Story Midway Mania and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, but I stink even more at basketball. It doesn’t matter though, I still want to use the basketball court reserved for Cast Members at Disneyland’s Matterhorn attraction.
- Tour the Utilidors. It’s no “secret” that Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has “secret” underground tunnels for Cast Members to use to get to and from various attractions. Oh my gosh, the fun I would have exploring these tunnels.
- Try Mickey’s Kitchen Sink at Beach Club Resort. I get to cross this one off my bucket list this year, so YAY me!!! Please note, I did say “try” and not “finish.” I’m pretty sure we won’t be able to finish it, as we are eating lunch first.
- Try the new 10 Gallon Hat at Whispering Canyon. This new dessert is along the same lines as the massive Kitchen Sink, only it’s larger from what I understand. I’ll just say this..Ice Cream. Chocolate. Yep, it made my list.
- Eat at every single Walt Disney World Resort restaurant. There are simply so many places to eat at Walt Disney World Resorts, I don’t know that we’ll feasibly be able to cross this one off our list, but I’m willing to take one for the team and try.
- Stay overnight at Cinderella’s Castle and the Dream Suite. We all know the only way to stay at either Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and the Dream Suite above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland is to win a contest of some kind. Trust me, I’ve entered every one I can find, but so far, no luck. I can still cross my fingers, as well as have faith, hope and Pixie Dust that one day, we will get to stay in one of both of these amazing suites.
So far, this is the extent of my Disney bucket list. As the parks ever grow and expand, I’m sure I will add more to my list, and hopefully cross some items off. Everyone should have their own bucket list, whether it’s a Disney list, or list of other amazing adventures in life. A bucket list is basically a list of dreams, right? Without dreams in life, we don’t really have a goal to work toward. Walt Disney started with a goal, a dream. We wouldn’t have any of the wonderful Disney movies if he hadn’t followed through with his dream. We wouldn’t have the Disney parks without his dream. I encourage you all to make a list of your dreams and goals today, and do your best to work toward achieving them. I’ll end with a quote from Cinderella, “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” Keep dreaming, keep wishing.
