All the lands in Magic Kingdom are magical, but none offers as many pixie-dusted attractions as Fantasyland. Here’s where the very best of Disney Imagineering and make-believe come together to create an amazingly detailed land of wonder. While Fantasyland’s specialty is attractions for the youngest visitors, there’s something for guests of all ages to enjoy. Let yourself get swept away while making use of these…
Fantasyland Tips for All Ages
For the toddler tourist: Fantasyland’s the place to be for plenty of attraction action without height requirements. Little-kid-friendly rides like Peter Pan’s Flight, It’s a Small World, Dumbo, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are all here to enjoy. Great alternatives to rides are found in Enchanted Tales With Belle and the Casey Jr. Splash & Soak Station. I recommend Fantasyland as the place to be first thing in the morning. So much is packed into this one land, you’ll want to do as much as possible before naptime. Breakfast or lunch at the Be Our Guest restaurant would be great additions to a morning in Fantasyland.
For the grade-schooler: This age is awesome! Old enough to know what they love and young enough to still be amazed by the Disney magic. If unsure about how much love your little ones will have for roller coasters, there are two great starter-coasters in Fantasyland – Barnstormer (must be 35″ to ride) and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (38″ height requirement). Barnstormer is pure fun but also a very short ride, so use the My Disney Experience app to check ride times and hit this coaster when the line is 10 minutes or less. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a bit longer and more thrilling with many special effects and animatronics, so a FastPass+ is strongly recommended for this ride. Wait times for the Dwarfs can easily be in excess of 60-90 minutes or more. Other fantastic Fantasyland attractions for this age group include Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid, Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, Mad Tea Party and many of those listed above.
For the tween crowd: While tweens and teens may find Magic Kingdom’s other lands featuring more thrill rides preferable, there are still some must-do’s in Fantasyland. When my kids were this age, they specifically asked for those Fantasyland attractions that they remember enjoying when they were little. Everyone will love Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (book a FastPass). If you find yourself with some time to spare, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is particularly great for all ages and does not need a FastPass. If traveling with kids only in this age category, I’d recommend starting the day in Adventureland and moving on to Frontierland then Liberty Square with that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train FastPass set for later in the day. This way, by the time your group reaches Fantasyland, you’ll have already accomplished quite a bit and may be ready to slow down and take in this land’s amazing details better.
For the young adult: Nostalgia comes into play at this stage. You can revisit favorite Disney memories from childhood and find you may notice details you hadn’t seen before. If you grew up with Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King, then Mickey’s PhilharMagic is the place for you! If you have small children, Fantasyland takes on a whole new magic when seen through their eyes.
For mature guests (like me!): When your kids are grown and you finally get to visit Disney World without them, Fantasyland can be toured on your own terms. Personally, I love Be Our Guest for breakfast – scheduled as early as possible to kick the day off in a magical atmosphere. I love It’s a Small World (we’re the same age) and won’t miss a chance to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I absolutely love the standby queue for Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid and I’ll gladly spend 30 minutes enjoying the many amazing details there before boarding a clam-mobile for a relaxing look back at one of my favorite Disney stories. Are you a fan of Fantasyland?
