Character dining is one of my favorite ways to enjoy a meal at Walt Disney World. Our family has tried almost every character dining location, and on our past trip we enjoyed the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It quickly became one of our favorite character dining locations for several reasons.
For starters, I love the atmosphere that greets you when you enter the Grand Floridian. Just walking into the lobby gives you a magical feel. 1900 Park Fare is conveniently located on the first floor, near the entrance. Once you have signed in, you have the opportunity for a photo taken before entering the restaurant. The theming throughout the Grand Floridian is truly “grand,” and even the stroller parking area for the meal is practically perfect!
I love the characters that greet guests during breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. My daughter loved meeting Alice and Mary Poppins, while my son preferred the Mad Hatter. They both loved meeting Pooh and Piglet! (Tigger is usually at this character meal, but on our day, we had Piglet instead.) Also note that the Mad Hatter can be quite loud, which may turn off some children. But he is completely hilarious, and I loved starting my morning off laughing at his silly jokes and antics while enjoying our meal. Both of my children are rather shy when it comes to loud encounters, and my son really enjoyed meeting the Mad Hatter, while my daughter did not. The characters are great, however, and the Mad Hatter did especially well in acknowledging my daughter without frightening her and interacting well with my son. He also did a great deal of teasing with the adults!
The restaurant, overall, is not large in size. We actually loved this and had the opportunity to meet all of the characters at least twice.
Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is typical Disney buffet food. Offering both hot and cold items, the variety was large and offered something everyone in our family enjoyed. One item not to miss is the Strawberry Soup. This is one of my favorite foods to eat in all of Walt Disney World! It is truly delicious. Another great option are the made-to-order omelets, and of course, Mickey waffles!
Breakfast typically runs from early morning until almost noon. Advance dining reservations are highly recommended, though I was able to snag a reservation for this location just days before our trip. In the afternoon hours, 1900 Park Fare hosts an afternoon Wonderland Tea Party for guests ages 4-12, and dinner is Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Dinner, featuring Cinderella, Prince Charming and others.
