Situated in The Landing area of Disney Springs, right next to Raglan Road, you’ll find the quick service restaurant Cookes of Dublin. If you love Irish food and you’re looking for a quick service restaurant, this is the place to go! This “hole in the wall” serves food “almost to-order” made from family recipes dating back to the 1930’s. This means that even though it’s a quick service restaurant, you’re going to wait a bit longer for your food. But it is so worth the wait! It’s also good to know that they participate in the Disney Dining Plans!
As you can see by looking at the menu, there is a variety of options to appeal to any taste or age. Just be careful with the little ones, because the food is going to come out hot! If you take a bite the minute the food hits your table, you will burn your tongue. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take that over cold food!
Speaking of food, let’s get right to the good stuff! We chose The Original One & One (Fish & Chips) and from the kids menu we went with the Dubliner Mac n Cheese & Chips.
The fish was very good! While the fish was not dry, the batter was very flaky and crunchy. And I was very impressed with the flavor! I could eat this fish all day without any condiments and be totally happy but I have to say, that I love the tartar sauce that is served with it. This is impressive enough because I hate tartar sauce. I can’t tell you why or what it is that I hate about it, but I have always tried to like it but end up pushing it aside. But this tartar sauce is very yummy! If tartar sauce isn’t your thing, there are plenty of options available by the bottle or pump such has malt vinegar or ketchup. Go ahead and grab that ketchup cause you’re going to need it. If I were to have one criticism, it would be that I don’t care for the chips. I would say that I loved that they are crispy on the outside but very soft on the inside. And when I say soft, I mean almost like mashed potatoes. These are things that I loved about the chips but one thing that they are missing is flavor. Now maybe this is just my Americanized palate and taste but I thought they really lacked flavor, and I wasn’t the only one who had this opinion. So grab that ketchup and the salt! Would I order this again? For sure! The fish is totally worth it!
The Dubliner Mac n Cheese is very good as well! The sharp and nutty flavor of the Dubliner cheese works really well with the macaroni to provide a dish that’s appealing to both kids and adults!
I have to say that I really enjoyed eating here! You can find a really good food at some really good prices! There are some really good restaurants at Disney Springs, but sometimes you just need to find a place that’s going to make your belly happy without breaking the bank. Cookes of Dublin will do that for you!
