It’s exciting to get to see all of the animals at Animal Kingdom. Riding the Kilimanjaro Safari and enjoying the Affection Section at Rafiki’s Planet Watch are great places to enjoy the animals. But what about the animal characters? Where can you find them and get your picture taken?
Let’s start with the Mouse himself-Mickey. You can find Mickey and Minnie in their safari attire at the Adventure Outpost. The Adventure Outpost is to the right of the Tree of Life (when looking from the entrance) and past It’s Tough To Be A Bug. They are generally there from 9:30am-6:30pm We were there with a group of ten and we were all able to fit into the room easily for a picture.
A few of Mickey’s friends are scattered around the park as well. Donald Duck has his own spot near Dinoland U.S.A. He too is in his safari wear. You can catch him from 10am-5:30pm.
Want to round out your experience with the Fab 5? No problem! Goofy and Pluto make it easy! They are located around the corner from Donald Duck in Dinoland U.S.A. from 10:30am-6:00pm These two are dressed as paleontologists and are ready to dig up some bones!
Up next is our fun friends-the chipmunks! Chip and Dale hangout at Rafiki’s Planet Watch from 10:15-12:45 and 1:55-4:25. These two are always ready for a good time and will always put a smile on your face.
Next up would be the princesses. Technically there is only one in the park and she isn’t one of the traditional princesses. However, we still love Pocahontas even if she doesn’t wear a tiara. Pocahontas can be found at Character Landing from 2:50-6:30pm. There is a small trail on Discovery Island before you cross the bridge to Dinoland U.S.A. The trail leads to Character Landing.
Naturally, a king would be next. No, not the king of the jungle. You can only see Simba during the Festival of the Lion King. The next best king would be King Louie. (Just don’t tell him we ranked him behind Simba!) King Louie can be found at Upcountry Landing across from Flights of Wonder between Asia and Africa.
What’s a king without a friend? King Louie’s pal Baloo also hangs out in Upcountry Landing. They can be found monkeying around from 2:40-5:40pm.
With Tarzan’s loud roar and ability to swing among the vines, he may take the king of the jungle title from King Louie. Luckily, Tarzen hangs out on Discovery Island Trail from 9:30am-11:30am and 1:10pm-4:30pm.
Our last fun team includes Dug and Russell. These two are located on Discovery Island near the It’s Tough To Be A Bug entrance. You can see what these two adventurers are “up” to from 9:00am-12:30pm and 1:40pm-:30pm. Make sure you catch them at a calm moment because we all know what happens when Dug sees a squirrel!
The hardest working ant around can be located on Discovery Island. Flik takes time from his engineering to take pictures and talk with guests from 9am-12:30pm and 1:40pm-4:30pm. Luckily, Flik is larger than life and easy to spot when you cross over to Discovery Island.
Last is the wisest character. The great Rafiki oversee’s Rafiki’s Planet Watch and in-between saving the planet greets guests. He can be found around Rafiki’s Planet Watch from 10:15am-4:30pm. Watch his stick-he may decide you need to learn a lesson!
As of today, this is the current list of characters you can meet and take pictures with at Animal Kingdom. These can change at anytime and for any reason. Characters do take short breaks through the day. These breaks never last more than 10 minutes. During the hot months they will take more, shorter breaks. The weather, special activities, and area closures may have an effect on character locations. If you have a question about where or when a character is supposed to show up you can always ask a Cast Member. If your favorite character is not out ask the Cast Members Photographers if they have any magic pictures. You need Memory Maker or you can order the photos individually, but they can be a fun addition to your character pictures! Pick up a times guide when you enter the park so you have the most up-to-date information.
