Have you seen Cinderella yet?!?! If you haven’t, you need to go as soon as possible. It was absolutely fantastic and the build up for the movie was spot on. If you absolutely adore the Disney Classic version of Cinderella, then you are going to absolutely love the live-action. Without any spoilers, this movie does not take a back-story approach such as Maleficent did. It pretty much stuck to the storyline of the original Disney version, but did have one or two areas that were broadened by the imagination of the writer. There were a couple of things that seemed out of place, but I will let you figure those out for yourself. The actors, in my opinion, did an absolutely fantastic job. Besides Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Stellan Skarsgård, I wasn’t familiar with too many more of the cast. Cate Blanchett played an excellent Lady Tremaine. Stellan Skarsgård, who is also know for his role as Erik Selvig in several of the Marvel movies, such as Thor and Avengers, played an excellent Grand Duke. Helena Bonham Carter, whom you might recognize as Bellatrix Lestrange from the Harry Potter series, was quite stunning as the Fairy Godmother. It’s quite a change for her from her character in Harry Potter. Lily James played Cinderella and was absolutely fantastic. Her character expressions and traits were truly that of what Cinderella should and would have been.
So, the DRESS and the SHOES. Oh my word, the DRESS AND THE SHOES ARE GORGEOUS!! I want them and I am not even a ball gown and heels kind of girl!!! The preview did not do either of them justice, nor did it do the movie justice. Now, I am a Disney Fanatic, and I mean I love Disney to the core. There are a few movies of Disney that I have not loved, Into the Woods being one of them, but I honestly think that they hit it out of the park with this one. It’s entirely family friendly and an all-around feel-good movie. This will definitely be on my must-own list.
The Frozen Fever short was shown right before the movie started. It was just as highly anticipated as the movie was!! This short was centered around Anna’s birthday and it picks up where Frozen left off for the most part. All the original gang was there and they were all played by the original cast! I really enjoyed this and it left me wanting more. In this short, another great song was sung by Elsa (Idina Menzel, who also starred in Disney’s Enchanted) that was written by the wonderful songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristin Anderson Lopez, the husband and wife dream team that won the Oscar for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song for Frozen. Even though Frozen 2 was just announced, I don’t believe it would be the same without this dynamic duo! I have to say, even though I am an adult, Frozen is one of my favorite movies of all-time! I know many adults out there that dislike the movie for some reason or another, and it’s mainly because kids can sing the songs every minute of every day. I, however, tend to be the “kid” singing the Disney tunes in my car or in the shower! Frozen Fever was every bit worth the wait as I expect Frozen 2 will be.
