If you’re looking for a seriously delicious, slightly more dressy table service dinner to enjoy on your next Walt Disney World vacation, the Flying Fish Cafe has my wholehearted recommendation! Located on the Boardwalk, the Flying Fish offers guests the perfect combination of wonderful food and exceptional service. My family and I enjoyed our first visit to the Flying Fish recently and can’t believe it took us so long to try it! Our server, Bob, was one of the best we’ve had on Disney Property. His attentiveness, combined with the incredible food and softly lit atmosphere made for a perfect evening out.
Disney’s Boardwalk Resort area is a fun and exciting place to explore. Reach this resort by bus from any park, by boat from Epcot or Hollywood Studios, or on foot from Epcot’s International Gateway (Epcot’s “back door” in the World Showcase). On the Boardwalk, a variety of shops, refreshments, and amusements tempt visitors to explore, sip a cold drink, and stop for a while to enjoy the antics of talented street performers such as magicians and juggling mimes. The atmosphere is festive and opportunities for food, fun, and nightime entertainment abound.
The Flying Fish is located to the right as you walk out onto the Boardwalk by exiting the resort’s lobby. It’s also very close to the Friendship Boat dock – just about in the center of all the exiting Boardwalk action!
Highlights of the menu include an incredible artisanal cheese platter which we’d heard about before we arrived from several sources touting its amazing array of gourmet cheeses and accompaniments. It was an experience on its own, full of taste sensations! The menu is changed frequently based on the freshest ingredients available and, in spite of the restaurant’s name, there are plenty of options for both the seafood lover and any guest who prefers a good steak or even lamb chops.
Unique desserts are also available. We enjoyed the “Sinful Dark Chocolate Delice Creation” which had a description so unique we felt we had to try it – “Amaretto-laced Chocolate Mousse, Brownie Torta, Thai Chili-laced Caramel Sauce, Candied Bacon and Dark Chocolate Sorbet”. Yes – bacon on top of a chocolate dessert! We couldn’t NOT try that! And we were not disappointed.
Tips for enjoying dinner at the Flying Fish:
- Book an ADR as far in advance of your arrival as possible (up to 180 days out) – this place is popular.
- Arrive early or plan to stay late (or both) – The Boardwalk is just a fun place to explore. Building in time to spontaneously enjoy the street performers, browse the shops, or relax with a cold drink will make the evening that much more fun.
- Consider making it a romantic dinner for two or an adult night on the town.
- Savor the experience – There are nearly limitless eateries on Walt Disney World property suitable for an eat-and-run meal. The Flying Fish is the type of dining experience best appreciated at a slower pace. The atmosphere, service, and food are again, excellent, and priced accordingly. This is the place to slow down and relax, soak it all in. If you’re celebrating an anniversary or birthday, I can think of few places better. Don’t skip dessert.
