Frontierland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is the place to be for thrill seekers. Frontierland is home to Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tom Sawyer’s Island, Frontierland Shooting Arcade, and the Country Bear Jamboree. This western style land has 6 stores and 4 one of a kind eating experiences. Frontierland is very popular in the Magic Kingdom because of the rides and therefore it can become quite crowded. Diva Tip: There is a walkway all the way through Frontierland. It is a bridge and is the designated smoking area. Because of this, there is no crowd, this is a fast and great way to get through Frontierland.
Frontierland is one of the best places to relax, people watch, and listen to good ‘ole country music. Frontierland is also a great place for Character Meet and Greets. In Frontierland you can find Donald Duck and Chip and Dale (in country attire of course). Frontierland is also a wonderful place to get your thrills in while at the Magic Kingdom. Frontierland is the home of Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. These attractions make Frontierland worth going to. Just be aware that these two rides have height requirements, so be sure to check and see if your little one can ride. Very close to both of these famous attractions is the Country Bear Jamboree and Tom Sawyer’s Island which are fun for the entire family.
Along with the amazing attractions, Frontierland has 4 restaurants: Diamond Horseshoe, Golden Oak Outpost, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, and Westward Ho Refreshments. Each of these dining experiences are different from the last. Each offer a wide range of food selections that would please the entire family. A plus to eating in Frontierland, each restaurant has a wonderful view of the Festival of a Fantasy parade. Once you eat your meal you can walk outside to the covered porches and watch the parade. Not only that, but the restaurants have a great view of the water and the Liberty Belle Riverboat. If you are feeling adventurous you could walk over to Tom Sawyer’s Island and find a comfy rocking chair to relax or even watch the parade from the island!
Frontierland is also a great place to get some souvenir shopping done. There are 6 unique shopping experiences that can be found in Frontierland: Big Al’s, Briar Patch, Frontier Mercantile, Frontier Trading Post, Prairie Outpost & Supply, and Splashdown Photos. These stores offer photos from the rides, pin trading, clothes and toys and snacks. Diva Tip: Frontierland can be a great place to shop because the shops are not near as busy as the shops on Main Street USA.
Now on to the famous Hidden Mickey’s. Hidden Mickey’s can be found in one restaurant, one shop, and the Shooting Arcade. On Big Thunder Mountain Railroad there are three Hidden Mickey’s. On splash Mountain there are nine Hidden Mickey’s, some are super easy to find while others you really have to search for. Tom Sawyer’s Island has three Hidden Mickey’s.
It is very plain to see that Frontierland is a wonderful place to visit while in the Magic Kingdom!
