When I was younger, I can remember LOVING Big Thunder Ranch because around Easter time, they had egg hunts. It was so much fun. And the prizes for the hunt were amazing- D’land Diva hubby remembers getting a stuffed animal. I remember getting a character poster. It was a special way to celebrate the season.
That’s why I was THRILLED when Disney announced that beginning March 28 and running through April 20, 2014, they would be having a Springtime Roundup up at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. No egg hunts (note that there will be a modified version of the egg hunt at California Adventure beginning next week), but a fun spring celebration. Now, this part of Disneyland has been a favorite of the D’land Diva family as of late. They have characters out for meet and greets, there’s games, dancing and entertainment and for some reason it is not very crowded.
When we visited the Springtime Roundup yesterday, we had a great time. It was nice to see the spring decorations. There were flower decorations everywhere and several booths set up celebrating spring time activities.
The egg decorations at this booth were AWESOME.
There was a cart set up with tasty treats. Next time, I think I want to sample the apple pie burrito. That sounds really good!
For pin traders, there was a table set up with a special twist- there were pins inside some eggs in a basket. You don’t know what you will get, and that is half the fun!
The D’land Diva kids were very happy to see a craft station set up, near the stage. There were several different kinds of bunny ear hats for the kids to color. I think both my littles spent a good twenty to thirty minutes coloring their ears. Diva Tip: The hats do run kind of big, but a cast member can help you glue the hat a little smaller for the wee ones.
Did I mention the dancing? Square Dancing! Just about every kid in the area got their groove on and there were cast members there to help guide them.
Now, for the best part…the characters. Mickey and Minnie were out dressed in pretty pastels and the line was about half that as the one on Main Street because no one seemed to know they were there! D’land Diva baby had a fun time loving on Minnie and there just didn’t seem to be a huge rush. And this was Spring Break time, so we were super impressed with the lack of crowds. Pluto in bunny ears also came out to enjoy the fun!
The rest of the characters, appropriately, were rabbits!
There was Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh…
Thumper…
The Easter Bunny…
The White Rabbit (from Alice in Wonderland)…
and Roger Rabbit.
So if you are heading to Disneyland in the next few weeks, be sure to check out this extra special celebration going on at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree! The celebration runs 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday-Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Enjoy!
