Most roller coasters at the Disney parks are made for older kids and adults but luckily the little ones are able to enjoy one thrilling ride at the Magic Kingdom. The Barnstormer, featuring the Great Goofini, is an exciting roller coaster featured in the new Fantasy land area next to the Dumbo ride. Last year we were at Disney World in September and my then 2 yr. old was not quite tall enough to ride and he was so disappointed. We returned in December of the same year and he had grown just enough to be able to ride. He was SO excited! I was worried he would be afraid once we started going but he loved it. As soon as we got off he wanted to ride again.
Since this is a roller coaster it does have a height requirement of 35 inches. Luckily the Barnstormer does offer rider swap if you have very young ones who aren’t yet able to ride. If you are in a wheelchair you will have to be transferred into the car. The cars are not very spacious and some adults may not be able to fit in the same car as their child. This is also not recommended for expectant mothers. The ride is short, but zippy with small drops so if you or child has a fear of these things you may want to skip it. Otherwise it is a great way for little ones to get ready for some of Disney’s bigger attractions. I know my little guy is just waiting for the day he is tall enough for Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Until he is we will just enjoy the Barnstormer!
Is this a ride you should a fast pass on? The wait time can vary depending on the time of day. If you get there early in the morning or later in the evening there is usually no more than a 10-15 minute wait. The line does tend to move quickly. During the afternoon the wait time can get longer so if that is the only time you are able to ride you may choose to get a fast pass. After riding you may feel you need more Goofy time and the best place to get that is to cross the path to Pete’s Silly Sideshow and have your picture taken with the Great Goofini!
