Sometimes Disney does something so incredible, so magical – I don’t want to know the “how” behind the “wow”! Turtle Talk with Crush is a perfect example. I love this show! Touted as being geared towards the pre-school age guest, this show found at Epcot in The Seas with Nemo and Friends, is absolutely delightful for every member of the family.
Turtle Talk is a 12 minute show that takes place in a small theater with bench seating where the littlest guests are encouraged to sit on the floor right in front of what looks like a gigantic fish tank. The Cast Member hosting the show will teach everyone about a hydrophone which is lowered into the water so underwater sounds can be heard. Then the action starts and WHOA, DUDE! What fun it is! Crush from Finding Nemo swims right up to the glass and engages guests – he can see YOU and hear you – by answering audience questions and asking a few himself. One of the very best things about Turtle Talk with Crush is that no two shows are exactly alike since the Crush/guest banter is always changing. Guests are encouraged to ask Crush about what it’s like to be a sea turtle and live in the ocean. In turn, Crush is curious about the ways of humans and human objects left behind in the ocean. I, myself, have even spoken personally with Crush and had a very difficult time answering the question he asked me! “What is a bicycle?” Crush is often joined by some of his underwater pals for even more fun. Crush loves teaching the little ones the importance of saying “DUDE!” as often as possible for the rest of the day.
If you’re spending a day at Epcot, do make time for a visit with Crush in Turtle Talk. It’s a great opportunity to take a cool break from the hot Florida sun and learn a little about our ocean-dwelling friends. The technological magic that makes this show possible is wonderful – if you figure out how it’s done, please don’t tell me. I’d prefer it to remain a mystery.
