We often try new restaurants when we visit WDW, but always make sure to eat at our favorites. One we never miss is The Rose and Crown Pub.
I’m not really sure if my love for this restaurant is the food, the atmosphere, or a combination of both. I am sure, however, that I never miss visiting the Rose and Crown whenever I am in Epcot (even if it’s for just a snack and a pint at the bar mid-day.) Eating in the Pub is made better by the pub entertainment that makes a regular appearance and the piano player that gets everyone singing along to very lively English tunes.
The Rose and Crown Pub is located in the United Kingdom Pavilion of the World Showcase in Epcot. If you are looking for a quiet, calm atmosphere – avoid the Rose and Crown. One thing for sure is that the Rose and Crown can be noisy – you can, however, enjoy the food and atmosphere with some quiet if you request a reservation for around 7:30 pm or 7:45 pm and ask to be seated outside. It is much quieter on the terrace and having a 7:30 pm reservation you are almost guaranteed a view of IllumiNations while you eat.

The Pub menu is small – consisting of only 5 or 6 items to snack on, however, their ales, stouts and pub blends offer many choices for a quick “pick-me-up” mid-afternoon. Both the lunch and dinner menus offer much more of a choice – one that makes it possible for everyone to find something they will enjoy. For those of you adventurous ale drinkers, the Rose and Crown offers an Imperial Sampling for $11.25 that gives you a nice sized taste of their ales, lagers and stouts.

My favorites for lunch or dinner are always the same – Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, or Bangers and Mash. I almost always start off with the Pan Roasted Mussels (w/tomatoes, herbs and a Bass Ale reduction). I often wish they would offer a meal sized portion of the Mussels! No meal would be complete at the Rose and Crown without their Irish Whiskey Caramel Custard for dessert. I always leave the Rose and Crown promising myself I will never eat that much again!
The Rose and Crown opens at 11:30 a.m. and closes for a very brief re-set at 4 p.m. It reopens at 4:30 for the start of dinner reservations. While you are waiting for your table, you will be given a beeper that allows you to roam around the United Kingdom Pavilion to enjoy the amusing street performers. The cost (excluding alcohol) for entrees varies from $15 to $35. As with all WDW restaurants, the Rose and Crown can accommodate special dietary needs (with advance notice) and will offer special celebration cakes for an additional fee.
If you do nothing but stop in the pub for a pint and a snack and to enjoy the lively pub atmosphere, the Rose and Crown is worth visiting. You will leave the pub feeling as if you have made many new friends!
