Food is my love language. There is no question about it. I have loved food for as long as I can remember and when I discover a new place with amazing taste….I must share.
Disney is the greatest place to try new foods. There is such a vast array to choose from you are certain to like at least one. I like a lot of Disney food but during my trip this past July, I discovered my favorite. I mean my MOST FAVORITE meal out of all the Disney restaurants (and there are a few close seconds)
Kouzzina by Cat Cora is located on the Disney Boardwalk. It is a casual, intimate restaurant that has a huge open kitchen and food that is out of this world.
A Greek meets Southern menu, Chef Cora combined her family history with her Mississippi roots.
When we were planning out our Disney Meals, our group (of 8) all voted a big yes to try this restaurant. Not because we are super Greek fans but we wanted to see what our fellow Mississippian and Iron Chef would bring to the Disney palate.
Nathan was our server. When you visit, ask for him. He is extremely knowledgeable on the entire menu and will tell you the honest truth on what he likes. His top pick was the Pork Tenderloin cooked Medium. My #1 tip for ordering food in a new restaurant is go with your server’s favorite. They are required to know what flavors each meal has, how it is best prepared and so forth. Trust them.
I allowed Nathan to order me the Pork Tendorloin, while the other adults in our party went for the Rib-eye, Lamb Shank, and Trio Sampler. We all agreed that we would share the plates. The kids were more than excited to know that they would be dining on an appetizer of Chicken Noodle Soup, an entree of Mac and Cheese, and for dessert-they built their own cupcake!
Nathan brought out some homemade bread and 2 different oils for us to try with them along with some tasty olives. The bread was a huge hit. We went through 2 baskets.
When our food arrived I was MORE than excited! My pork tenderloin was juicy, tender, and very well seasoned. It came topped with Feta Gremolata (a yummy sauce!), Zucchini Cornbread (a family favorite) and Seasonal Vegetables. I also added a side of Brussels sprouts that had the BEST smokey flavor. Nathan also suggested these. He said, “I did not like Brussels until I tried these.” He was right, they were too die for!
My friend Chris, ordered the Trio Sampler. My favorite off of his plate was the Greek Style Lasagna. It was creamy and well-seasoned. The meat was cooked in a cinnamon stew and it left an amazing aroma in my mouth. I will order the full plate of this next time! The few bites I had was defiantly leaving me wanting more!
My husband Todd had the rib-eye cooked Medium Rare. It came out perfect. He is picky about his meat (it MUST cut with a fork) and this one passed the test! (see which restaurant took 3 tries to get it right in my other articles!)
My other friend, Darla had the Lamb Shank. It was well cooked and very flavorful. I am just not a huge shank lover.
After we were all stuffed from dinner, Nathan brought out our desserts. We had the Baklava, Loukoumades (Greek donuts) and Chocolate Boudino Cake (Nathan’s Favorite) The Loukoumades were my favorite out of the three. I even brought some back to the hotel for a midnight snack!
Kouzzina is part of the Disney Dining Plan so we used 1 table credit per person and enjoyed this delicious meal! If we hadn’t our bill would have been $148.00 for our family of 4! I think that is a great price for off the chart, Iron-Chef level food!
After dinner, we strolled the boardwalk, took in a few side shows, and stopped in the Boardwalk Bakery (but more on that later!)
Tips for Kouzinna:
1) Ask for Nathan to be your server.
2) Allow him to help you decide your meal.
3) Have each person order something different-so you can share!
4) Come Hungry!
