When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that’s…. when you get really hungry for pizza pie.

What? That’s not what you thought I was going to say?

Well after you’ve tried Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World you might change your mind. IMG_2449

Tony’s can be found on your right when you first walk through the main tunnels of Magic Kingdom.

It is a beautiful setting with indoor and outdoor IMG_2450seating, so it is great if it’s a nice warm day or if its so stinking hot you can’t breathe you can go inside.

I would recommend that you get an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) if you go during busier times of years, but this is one of the few places that its fairly easy to get a walk-up seating for.

When you walk in to Tony’s you will check-in at the front desk and they will tell you to take a seat to wait. The waiting seating area is really beautiful and has a television that plays Lady and the Tramp.

It also has, what I call, a SECRET BATHROOM!

Right beside the restaurant, but still in an open area beside the current meet and greet for Magic Mickey and the Princesses, is a great bathroom that many people don’t know about. Its only got about three stalls, BUT its one to keep in mind when you’re in that area of the park.

When your host or hostess comes to retrieve you, you will be taken and seated in one of two areas. The first is very “Italian restaurant” and the other is like a beautiful glassed in (similar to an old conservatory style room).

We were seated in the sun-room area which was beautiful and made us feel like we were outside but still in the air-conditioning. I was honestly very impressed, and pleasantly surprised, with how beautiful the décor was.

Every detail subtlety pays homage to the Lady and the Tramp movie without overwhelming you with cartoons.

This is not a character meal and is referred to as a “table service” meal.

The menu includes standard Italian fare such as Calzones, Spaghetti, Baked Ziti and Chicken Parmigiana, but also includes some exciting surprises such as Flatbread sandwiches, Fish of the Day, & Eggplant IMG_2458Catasta.

And Kids Picks include:

Spaghetti & Meatballs, Cheeseburger Calzones, MultiGrain Grill Cheese, Fish of the Day, Steak Skewer “Spiedini” or what they call “Complete Meals”which include an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Which is what your child would get if you were on the dining plan.

These are some great, really healthy choices and definitely different than most of the standard fare at Disney.

Of course we had to try out the intertwined straws. That’s amore!

We started off our meal with the Toasted Cheese and Garlic Bread topped with fresh Tomatoes and Basil.

IMG_2465I honestly thought it was only “ok” and we didn’t even finish it. I’m not a huge fan of tomatoes though. I’m sure you can ask to have those left off if you asked.

I asked the waiter, who I did not think was particularly great by the way, what he thought was the best thing on the menu and he said to try the Spaghetti and Meatballs. This is my standard process at Disney. Ask the people who serve the food everyday if you really want what’s best on the menu.

I didIMG_2466 not think it was good at all. I could have made it in my kitchen with cheap sauce. Nothing awesome. So I would take a pass on that especially since it was $16.99.

My husband, however, opted for the Baked Ziti and it was divine! I would definitely recommend someone try that and share it with the table. It was $13.99 and I felt like he has as much food, or more, than I did.

He literally licked the platter clean!

My 9 year old also opted for the Spaghetti and Meatballs which also said was just ok and my daughter opted for the Cheese Pizza which you can get pretty much anywhere. It was a pretty good size meal though. Kids meals are $8.59 a piece.

You can use the Disney Dining Plan at Tonys and they also accept the Tables of Wonderland 20% discount card. Before our discount, tax or tip our meal was $48.46, which is not that much different than a quick service meal for a family at four would be in MK.

So my review? I think that this is a GREAT alternative to ANOTHER quick service meal for people not on the dining plan and a good meal if you are on the dining plan.Just opt for the Ziti over the Spaghetti.

Mangiare bene! (eat well!)
