The Budget Diva has some money saving tips on how to make your own autograph books!
Almost all children who visit Disney World want to meet the characters, take pictures and get the sought after autographs. Disney markets their ever popular autograph book, sold throughout the parks, ranging in price from $8 up to $25. However, the autograph books can really add up if you have more than one child like I do. How can you save this expense? I suggest taking the extra time prior to your big trip to make your own autograph books. If your children are old enough they can help too!
WHATS NEEDED?
I purchased a simple 4×6 mini photo album at Target for $2 each, card stock paper (in a multi-color variety pack) and Disney chipboard medley ($5). I already own a hot glue gun, but if you don’t you can find one at your local craft store or online.
HOW LONG?
This quick and easy project took me thirty minutes at the most. I simply cut the card stock to fit into each page and glued a Disney character to each page. This way I can have the characters signature on the left side of the album and on the right side I will place an actual photo of my child with the character. This creates a personal autograph book for each child to look back on and remember their Disney experience long after the trip is over.
Just be sure to carry a sharpie or thick marker that is big enough for the characters to be able to hold. I recommend placing your autograph book in a sealed Ziplock baggie when carrying it around the parks to prevent it from getting wet or consider a slim clipboard storage case, like the Disney Diva mentions in her article HERE. I left some pages blank in case we run into characters we did not plan on seeing. If your little one is helping create the autograph book you could even let them color the cover page, use fun glitter pens, stickers, etc.
So cute! I used Shutterfly for ours! I cannot wait to take it with us! It turned out so cute! Lots of places for specific characters, and then general pages for others that I didn’t think of! I have never been so I wasn’t srue exactly how to do it! I wish this was written back then! 🙂
I have the sae question as “unknown”. Are the characters signing on the plastic page, or do you pull out the colored sheet each time someone signs?
If they do sign on the plastic, will it smear before dry?
Thanks!
