One of the things people deal with when wanting to stay “on property” At Walt Disney World is how many people can stay in each room. Most Disney rooms are about the size of a regular hotel room.
All rooms will hold at least four adults and a child who can sleep in a crib.
There are other rooms however that can hold more and those are important to note if you have a larger family! So what can fit a family of 4 or larger?
Animal Kingdom Lodge – p to 5)
Animal Kingdom Jambo and Kidani Villas – up to 12
Art of Animation family suites- up to 6
Bay Lake Tower –up to 12
Beach Club- up to 5

So keep these in mind when you make your room reservations. You can also get a “lockout” which connects two rooms together, but you’ll have to pay for two separate rooms and you’ll need to tell your travel planner or reservationist you’d like the two rooms to connect.
Do the hotels you do not list not allow more than 4 then?
Correct lauralin. If they’re not on this list you can only do a family of four, sometimes if you have a baby they will allow a pack and play in addition to four, but you’d have to ask when booking.
When you list 8 or 10 or 12, are those significantly bigger rooms? Is it a better deal than getting 2 rooms?
